I would be interested in a golf outing.
John and I talked about getting a Michigan members golf outing together sometime next year. But this sounds even better with a larger group to draw upon.
Keep us posted

What needs to happen is there needs to be more than one, if we can do them by regions, then if you can't make one, you have an opportunity to make one of the others.
I'm liking it Jerry!!!!!

What would be the preferred spot? Michigan, Chicago, Wisconsin. Someone start a poll about locations where everyone is coming from and choice of destination.

We could probably throw this party at a course like Crystal Tree in Orland Park. The course is awesome and is always in great condition and the greens are fast, not like Cog!!To do it at Olympia with a big turn out would require board approval and could be difficult but not impossible. Crystal would cost 100 with cart. Very affordable and Nickc445 would tell you a beautiful track. Well worth the drive.

I have no preferences, I was thinking you have 4 courses in Kohler, with the Whistling Straits, and Black Wolf Run.
Michigan has the TreeTops, but not close to an airport.
I am just throwing ideas, we have enough time, we can do whatever we want.

I don't know, I am not trying to talk anyone into going anywhere. I like Chicago as well. I just think if it is going to happen anywhere, there is alot to do. We would need a headcount, confirmation from those interested, a location, what is everyones budgets if any?
I am not trying to be the front guy on this, I will assist, and can get my assistant to make arrangements and that sort of stuff. If i need to take the lead I can do that as well. We will be trying to coordinate people from all walks and locations, i would just want to make sure it is done right.

I looked at Whistling packages, they are quite pricey, I am not terribly concerned with costs but I know some are. Frank , I would think any decent course is going to be around $100 a player ( don't want to count out any woman that might be interested) hotel will be $75-$100 a night, would you want a multiday outing? Let everyone make their own arrangements other then golf?
Sorry, I just know that this could be a very large undertaking.

Count me in gentlemen..where ever it winds up in Wi or Il I'm close..just a thought is that the Kohler courses are $$$ and would create budget issues for some. Add a ton of cash if you're staying at the resort. Something in the $100 rather than the $300 range would be more to my liking. Although for a chance to play the Straits with the guys from this board I'd not have a problem.

There are alot of great resorts in the Midwest. I think it should be centerely located so more can take advantage and priced right. I guess i'm not so concerned about the quality of a "great" course as much as I would enjoy the comradire of the group.

One thing to consider is travel, for those who aren't within driving distance but would like to join in on the fun. Personally I think Chicago area is by far the best for travelers as it's the easiest to fly into, just about anywhere in the US can get a cheap airfare to Chicago. And there's plenty of stuff for the non-golfers (i.e. my wife) to do.
I'd definitely be interested in making the trip from Baltimore for an outing. My wife and I like to take 2-3 "long weekends" a year, with enough lead time I'm sure I can talk her into going back to Chicago

I'm game for an outing. I'm fairly new to the Chicagoland Golf scene so I can't make a ton of suggestions. I enjoyed the Bolingbrook Golf Club track the other day, though it is a bit young and I'm not sure others would like to pay that much if it wasn't perfect. I heard that the Pheasant Run (
http://www.pheasantrun.com/golf/links_course.htm ) links course is better and cheaper than Bolingbrook. Has anyone played it? It looks really nice on the site ... I'll have to scope it out soon.
Anyhow, I'm in and will start scoping out some courses.

Birdie, those courses are very exclusive and it would be difficult to get a large group off those courses and you are looking at paying 200 to 250, but I like your taste, brother!
I think we shouls look to spend 100 to 150 tops for the first year, so that we appeal to a bigger audience. Ageed?

I agree, I was just yanking your chain.
Other than your place or Crystal Tree, here's some other places that IMHO are usually in good /very good condition, principally in the are of green quality: (trying to keep to the price range also)
Cantigny-although not one of my favorites-I think the design is weak
Thunderhawk
The Glen
Stonewall Orchard
Prairie Landing
Oak Grove-long drive as it's west of Antioch, Il.
Makray Memorial-Great redesign of an old goat pasture in Barrington and a brand new clubhouse
Midlane-this might be a more appropriate course for a wide range of handicaps although it doesn't have the WOW factor of other courses
Ruffled Feathers-haven't been there in at least 5 years but I still hear good reviews of the course conditions
Mistwood-although they do not have the dining/bar facilities of other course mentioned here
The Bog-Saukville, Wi
Pine Meadow
Geneva National
Harborside
White Deer Run
Where this outing ends up at, is certainly dependent upon the location of attendees, so as to reduce driving time.

If Golf Chicago can get us Crystal Tree or one of the other privates in his area I think we should take him up on it. I have played Crystal Tee and it's a great track with phenomenal greens. If we put together this Golfwrx outing I would be willing to donate some Exotics for Longest Drive, Closest To The Pin, Low Gross etc. Also for a raffle, so anyone can have a chance to win. I would also be willing to set up on the range with Demos so everyone can try the Exotics etc. In 2006 this would include the new Exotics Driver and some other surprises we may have for you in that division! ( FYI: Limited Release around Nov. 5th of this year for the Exotics Driver )

I've contacted a buddy of mine who is a member. All outings mut be on Monday, and we would need to reserve a day now for next year. If this is a site of interest as the interest level firms up, I can provide contact information. I do not have any idea of cost but $65-$80 sounds familiar for a guest fee.

Check on those Monday outings. Most private tracks rquire a minimum of around 80 golfers. Do they have a similar requirement.
I posted some pictures of TPC Michigan on here today, I can check on costs for there , and I belong to another course here in Michigan called Indianwood that has two courses as well, but i like the idea of going to Chicago, much better night life.

There is a remote possibility I would be able to do it. Very remote. it would depend on if it's in Chicago and what the date is. Also would depend on the cost hopefully under $100. BTW I'm in Minnesota just outside St. Paul. A minnesota outing would be perfect.
