My buddies and I are getting a bit tired of the same ol' skins/greenies/etc in our usual rounds....I remember reading of a game called "39" in a golf mag but can't remember it exactly....I know one deducts their handi from 39 to get their target #...but I can't recall how many points are deducted for each eagle,birdie,par, bogey, etc.....Can anyone enlighten me?...Thanks in advance for any responses....

I too remember reading about this and can't find the magazine that had it. Anyone remind us of the details?

It's in the october issue by David Owens "Games for hackers and players alike". I think....

It's not available on line so if someone has that issue... please look and share! drinks.gif

Hope this helps,

I am sure I have the issue. When I get home, if not one has replied with details then I will tonight

Ok, I believe I found it. You take the raw score of 39, subtract your handicap. Then as the game goes you subtract:

0 - double bogey or higher
1 - bogey
2 - par
3 - birdie
4 - eagle

There you go! drinks.gif

Sounds like the old game Chicago. You have to make the total points of 39 minus your handicap. If you do you are +.

Example for me with a 6 handicap would be 33 points.

It's a really good game for 4 or a large group with different handicaps. But when we played it it was:

Par = 2 points
Birdie = 4 points
Eagle = 8 points
Bogey = 0 points
Double Bogey = minus 2 points

Isnt this just quota? And shouldn't it be off of 36, with a par being worth 2 points......18 pars = 36 points.....which is what a scratch golfer would need.

It's very similar to the Quota game.
