so i was at the range today and i accidentally kicked the legs out underneath the bag so that the legs were actually pointing up... i was able to push them back into normal position but i swear that the bag now sits super low (this could be just my imagination though). has anyone ever had this happen to their bag and had any ill effects (leg problems or breakage) later on? thanks.

Hmmm. Legs in the air like a dead bug or legs in the air like when you're rubbing a dog's belly? Nevermind.
What model do you own? Perhaps a simple adjustment on the strap that controls the legs' tension will fix the problem (located on the underbelly of the bag, most times. There it is again, "belly." Dang)
Perhaps more details will allow a more intelligent member than myself to help out. Sorry I couldn't help more, but that's my best guess. Also -- Ping has excellent customer service/warranty repair. Take your bag to an authorized Ping dealer, and see if they can help in any way.
