I'm in need of a new stand bag!! I currently have an L8+. I used an L8, hoofer, sun mountain and jones when I played in college. I'd like to use something other than Ping. I'm pretty much out of the loop on stand bags these days. I just purchased the stand bag UST sells russian_roulette.gif and within two outings the entire top assembly cracked and fell apart. I've been a devoted UST shaft user and thought the bag would be up to the same quality. Boy was I sadly mistaken, please don't anyone else make that mistake.

So, with that said...What's the best bag for walking and cart use. $$ not a concern, want quailty

Thanks for your help

I know you said you don't want a PING, but its really hard to beat them. I would say either Sun Mountain, Ogio, or PING.

I'm a big fan of my Ogio, and love the innovation that goes into them. The Woode top is great for club organization, and while some people don't like it, the Schling System works extremely well for me. I've had 3 Ogio bags over the last 10 years (also used the Hoofer 3 for a good stretch), and for the most part I've had no complaints.

The one problem that you will run into with Ogio, is quality control ain't always the best. My first Vision SS (bag I'm using now) the handle broke--as it's not reinforced too well so as to accomodate the Schling "resting" place. One the second one, the one I still have, the full length dividers are a little loose (not nearly as loose as my hoofer's though), and the legs aren't quite as "tight" when walking. I'll probably exchange it sometime next year if the dividers loosen up a little more. Ogio is very good with returns and warrantee issues.

Ive had two Ogio bags and cant say enough good stuff about them. First I had a 2005 Vaporlite and it was well... light! It had more than enough pockets. After that was a 2006 Exo and its great, the zipperless ball pocket (ZBP) has worked real well and the TORQ strap is awsome. It secures your bag so it doesnt twist on a cart. Also you just cant go wrong with the woode top.

OGIO!!!

Zipperless ball pocket is cool too. Might not be as big a necessity when you use one ball every 36 holes, but can be very handy.** But enough cannot be said about the torq strap. Amazing how big a difference that makes. Zero twisting or sliding of the bag throught the round (if you ride). The only innovation I felt was too gimicky was the ball silo. The ball pocket is much handier, ball silo really is not necessary.

**I, on the other hand, find myself using one ball every 3-6 holes. So find the ZBP to be very handy. wink.gif

I've had the Mizuno GTO for around a month now. My first Mizuno bag, but one of the best ones I've ever had.

I know u want to stay away from ping but they are a great durable bag. Ive had terrible luck wit ogios in the past, they just tear, break, etc.

loads of help...one vote for Nike so far, the Sasquatch. I looked it up, it's not available until end of Nov. to Dec. and it looks really bulky and heavy...any feedback on that???

One vote for the TM R7 stand bag. Pocket configuration just works for me, and I like the looks. I was unsure when I first got it how I liked it, but it has grown on me the more I used it.

I was also happy with my previous Ogio bag (a Trick SS). I have had good luck with quality and durability of the Ogio bags. I only switched as my oldest son needed a new bag, and I found a deal on the TM R7. I have not yet had the TM R7 bag long enough to evaluate durability (about 2 months), but it is holding up OK so far.

I agree with the other posters on the Ogio bags. I have the Ogio Edge, and it has quite an amazing design. It seems to be built like a tank. Not sure about the Mizuno GTO mentioned. It has a nice look, but the top of it seems to have a very poor design to me. My last bag was a Mizuno, and it is the first bag I ever wore a hole in so I am not certain about the quality of their bags. Maybe I was just unlucky.

Had different experience with Ogio. Edge bag looked like it had everything I wanted, as I drive and carry equally. But Woode system very overrated, shafts got tangled often, and the individual slots on the side didnt even allow smooth in/out of the one club in them. Would often forget the Torq strap that kept bag attached to cart, so its easy to yank on bag while its still hooked up to cart.(My bad, not theirs) Lastly, hanging towels would always get caught in legs as you lift bag so always had to pull them out of way so pick up the bag. I'm starting to think that larger club divisions (4 or 6 way tops) may actually function better. Still looking for that perfect carry/cart bag.

Look at the Ogio bags. I have had several of them over the years, and have had nothing but sucess. Also, if anything does go wrong I found out thier customer service to be 100%. Just was upset cray.gif when Callaway stopped using ogio to produce thier bags.

I have a Sun Mountain 2005 MPG stand bag with the full length dividers and this bag is awesome. A little on the heavy side and is ok on the golf cart. The 2006 bag has a better handle but has the same design as the 2005 bag. A very good bag worth the dough. I got mine from Golf Galaxy for 20 bucks off and they have coupons all the time. Hope this helps, Steve

I am looking for new bags as well and came across the new Callaway XTT Xtra Lite - 4 lbs, lots of pockets. Just not sure about the colors (mostly white or all orange); however, more will be out next year. Also looking at the mid weight Titleist bag.
