Where on LI will you be staying? It's a big area and some recommendations will be better than others due to travel time.

In any case, there's a similar thread on another site here: GEA LINK

Where on Long Island will you be and what day? Maybe we could get together.

Most of the courses that will be easier to get on are on the eastern end of the Island, Great Rock, Willow creek @ the Hamlet, Pine Ridge, L.I. National, Tall Grass, Links at Shirley, Spring Lake, Montauk Downs; in Nassau county you got: Harbor Links, Bethpage, Lido, Eisenhower(Champions tour tourny). I'd make sure to call ahead and find out if the greens were punched or not it's aerating season. Montauk, Great Rock, and Bethpage Black to me are the top teir.

i don't know much about the area, but i'll be staying with a friend who's by Hofstra Univ.

both of us are playing so, if anyone can join, it'll be great.

planning on playing 11/10 (fri) and 11/11 (sat).
really looking into playing at bethpage both days.

Chip,

I'll try and get a time for us on The Black. If not The Red is better than The Blue.

I agree that the Red is better than the Blue. If you want to try to get on to the Black, Friday will definitely be the "easier" day. And, if you do get on the Black, make sure you have comfortable shoes b/c it's a good walk.

The Black and the Red are both great. If you get there REALLY early you will get out.

Tallgrass is perhaps the most under rated public on Long Island. Its a little shoehorned into the property but its got great golf holes packed with strategy and options. Its cheap this time of year as well.

thank you everyone for all the help!!!

i'm thinking of trying to walk-on somewhere for twilight on 11/10 (fri).
