There isn't much advice to give. As far as I know - from European colleagues and business associates (since as an American I cannot easily visit Cuba, at least legally) - there is actually only one 18 hole course on the island (Varadero). I think there's another that says its 18 somewhere close to Havana, but its really just 9 with two sets of tees.

Cuba is not exactly known as being one of the world's golfing hotspots ... wink.gif.

PS. Be careful - if you're an experienced traveller I'm sure you'll be fine - but if its your first trip to a "developing world" country, well, extreme poverty produces people with nothing to lose. Cuba used to be considered relatively safe, but things are getting a bit wacky just now. The following, for instance, might be of interest to you - since it concerns your locations (it was issued early this year by the Canadian government):

"Cuba is rarely thought of as a hotbed of crime, but the Department of Foreign Affairs is warning tourists that increasing numbers of Canadians have been victims of pickpocketing, theft and assault -- especially in Havana's Old Havana, Centro Havana, the Malecon, and Vedado and on the beaches of Playas del Este and Varadero. Those who are mugged and stripped of identification and money should contact the Canadian embassy before the local cops, who may just toss them in jail until their identity is confirmed and their solvency restored."

Little known fact Domician cigar are just as good if not better than cubans, but they're not illgeal so they lose the appeal factor of getting something expensive and illgeal from another country.

Not so sure about this - there's a few Cubans I like better than Dominicans (and I currently spend most of my time in Mexico, where they are neither expensive or illegal).

Went to Cuba last year. Unforunately I didn't play golf but I remember seeing several on the way to Varadero. You should be able to book through your hotel conciege. It is expensive and take your own balls, they'll charge you £15-20 for a sleeve of three. Enjoy beach.gif

He he ... actually ... when I first played in Miami, I remember rolling a long putt to about 1/2 inch from the hole, and having one of my foursome say "Too bad - a Cuban putt ...". I didn't get it until he explained ... "It just needs one more revolution" ... wink.gif

At one time, there were a few Donald Ross courses on Cuba. I bet Cuba was a GREAT place to vacation in the 1950's.

Soon, when Fidel leaves this life, maybe the country will make a comeback....
