hello all, i am currently enrolled in the PGA PGM program at Methodist College in NC, and as part have to do 3 month internships after my freshman, sophomore, and junior year as well as a 7 month internship after my senior year, and i want to go international. I am still trying to figure things out but i know students have gotten credit from Costa Rica and Spain.

If you live outside the US, please give me some info on your country and some premier courses.

THANKS!

If you choose to go to Sweden (there are other beautiful reasons than golf, just ask Mr Woods) my favourite courses are:

Halmstad (Tylösand) where thay will play the next Solheim cup - great Wentworth style course
Barsebäck, mutiple host of the European Tour and previous Solheim Cup - park, forrest and links in one and the same course
Falsterbo - pure links
Ljunghusen - pure links
Hills - fantastic forrest style course
Sand - new, fabricated links in the inland

The really interesting course right now is Bro Hof, which use the same SubAir system that Augusta do, but they will blow hot air through it to keep the course playable for a longer season. In addition, it will not just be under the greens, but under the whole course!!!

It hasn't even opened yet, but will host the European Tour in 2009, designed by RTJ jnr, almost 8000 yards long(no kidding!) stadium type course. Theres nothing like it in Europe and probably not many places else either. I very much believe that we will see WGC championships and the Ryder Cup being played there in a not too distant future.

www.brohofslott.se has pictures if you choose "Bildgalleri" on the menu to the left. Sorry about the Swedish!

Spain has some very good golf, much of which is along the Costa Del Sol, south of Malaga. Premier courses include Valderrama, San Roque and Sotogrande. Also a bit further south, nearer Cadiz is Montecastillo. There are a dozen or more other fine courses and many decent ones.

The UK has loads of great courses, many links which you have seen at The Open on TV, but also a great set of heathland courses, south west of London, including Sunningdale, The Berkshire, Walton Heath and others. These are like inland links with pine forests and heather and gorse. Loads of good parkland stuff too.

Likewise Ireland, with a greater emphasis on links. Many around the Dublin and southeast coast as well as Kerry and Calre in the south west. My favourite course is Royal Co. Down, in Northern Ireland.

Ireland and the UK is small enough to do shorrt trips from England to Ireland or Scotland and vice versa, using low cost airlines, or driving +- ferries.
