I bought a used pair of Classics Dry and like them so far.

However, i found rust on the thread of the spikes (dont even know which one they are - the thread is made of steel - black widow?) so im fearing that the winding in the shoes might get rusty as well.
So i wondered what you are doing to prevent your windings from rusting - i know there are some chemicals that avoids rusting.

IŽd also like to know if i should look for a specific tool to mount the spikes.

thanks for helping out

Just put some petroleum jelly on the thread before installing spikes - stops it all rusting together, end of story

It's not rust, it's locktite threadsealer, locktite looks like that with age, here's my brand new spikes out of my Dry Premiers.

Your receptacles look perfectly clean, you're fine.

wow, perfect - thanks for the picture !
now that the threadsealer is off, i guess i should reapply it, so can i buy that stuff in a regular proshop ?

anyother question slightly off topic: anyone has experience with Champ Stinger or Black Widow Pulsar in the Classics ?

Locktite you can buy at most home improvement or automotive stores. It looks like this:

Just drop a little dab on the thread and then screw it in.

As far as spikes, the pulsars are nice, but clog very easily, and the soft rubber legs tend to wear very fast. It's a pain reaching for a tee every time you step in mud or loose grass, not to mention having to change them every month.

The Stingers are probably the best compromise between traction and durability IMHO.

Which ever ones you decide, just make sure you get at least 22 in the package which is how many spikes there are in the sole of the CDP.
