I still can't believe it. I played a course that I play a few times a year. It's and easy course, par 70 with a slope of only 110 from the whites. I would normally play the blue, but I singled up with a threesome that was playing white, so I just went with it. I've shot a 78(my first time breaking 80) on the same course a year ago, but since then haven't been scoring well at all.
I had 6 bogeys and 3 birdies. And I missed 3-4 birdie puts iniside of 15 feet. 10 fairways, 7 greens, 28 putts.
I thought it wasn't a big deal because of the slope until I check what my handicap for the course would be and its a 13! So, on a good day I should shoot an 83. I hope this is just the start of me hitting a new level in my game.

Thanks it was a fun round. I felt in total control. I was even able to work my driver right to left, which is against my normal shot. I expect my handi to go down a full point probably.

Very nice!
Just a note: Handicap differentials are based on rating, not par.

Man, I hate this game.
I shot a personal best 73 on Saturday. I go see my instructor two days later and he has me work on keeping the clubface square at the top(feels shut to me).
Now the last two range sessions have been complete disasters! How can I go from shooting a 73 to hitting 10 of 50 range balls off the friggin hosel!?!?
Sometimes I think these instructors just give you tweaks knowing it will screw up your feel so you keep coming back.

I'm not a big believer of "keeping the club square at the top", look at all the good players, they are all over the park with that. Some open, some square, some dead shut. I'd stick with what feels natural. I'm very closed at the top myself and my drives are laser straight. Look at Azinger, Tiger in the early 90s, ect. I just think there's more important things to focus on that trying to rotate the club at the top. Balance, good alignment and swing plane are much more important.
