After only playing 1 year and 3 months, I finally broke the 90 barrier today. I've come close many times but just couldn't pull the trigger.
I was in the Fairway 7 times off the tee, and 4 more just wouldn't hold that fairway and ran < 1 foot off into the rough. My putting wasn't the horrible mess that it normally is finally averaged less than 2 putts per hole (barely). My Iron shots were very nice today, but I kep coming up short for some reason. I just couldn't judge the distances today. What really saved me were my fairway woods. I was hitting them long and straight instead of thin and right.
While my score was the best I have posted, it was the quality of the round that I played that made it so satisfying. I really didn't have a bad shot (thin/topped/fat/etc) all round and my 60º lob wedge was a savior!

hey there, great job on your accomplishment! i will always remember the first time i broke 90. it was at waikoloa on the big island of hawaii, shot a 87 on the beach course and made my trip even better. it dosent hurt that it took me 6 months to do it, which made me even happier.
