I'm not too familiar with Big Island golf since I haven't been there in ages. There are a number of very good and pricey courses there. I'm sure some of our Big Island GolfWRX'ers will chime in on this to help you out.

Check out this website though...for more Hawaii Golf. 808 GOLF There's a link to courses and if you click enough can check them out scorecards/pictures. Have fun and ALOHA!

for a must play course, i would say the Big Island Volcano Golf & Country Club outside Hilo. course is just flat out amazing and you have a backdrop of Kilauea, can't be beat from what I've played out there.

My favorite course on the Kona/Waikoloa side of the island is Big Island Country Club. It's up on the side of the volcano, above the Waikoloa Resort area. If you're staying at the Four Seasons, Hualalai is supposed to be amazing. I've never played there, but from what I've seen it's beautiful. The Mauna Lani courses are both very nice as well. But Big Island Country Club is a must!

Mauna Lani is beautiful and very scenic with some of the nicest fairways in Hawaii. There is a North and South Course. I prefer the South Course, based on the view and it's proximity to the ocean. I have played it several times and highly recommend it. Hapuna is nice, but there are many elevation changes and it can be extremely windy. Mauna Kea is another very nice golf course if you get the opportunity to play there. This one is a little tighter, but not an unfair course. Waikaloa has a couple of courses and they are fairly nice. I do not remember which course we played though.

Hope that helps.

Stayed at Hualalai for a week and it was a great course, Nicklaus design, believe they still play a Champions event there. Was never too crowded. Could wake up, grab a cart, hit the range and play the day without ever seeing a soul for the most part. Really loved the course and it was in great shape when I was there (October).

Stayed a week on Lanai as well, worth a look if you want two championship courses (Norman/Nicklaus) that are almost deserted.

It all depends on what side you will be on. I live on Hilo side and the best two over here are Volcano Golf Club and Waiamea CC. I like Hapuna on the Kona side. Big Island CC is also a good one but, is in very poor shape right now. PM me and I can give you a few more details. If you want to play a skins game, let me know ahead of time and I can get you in with our club for the day. Lots of fun!
