Noticed that Paul McGinley has withdrawn from the PGA Championship to go to the funeral of Heather Clarke. The two families are very close apparently, and he said it was an easy decision to make.

Given he is currently 10th in the European Ryder Cup standings, it is a decision that could well cost him his place on the team - got to give him credit for such a decision!

I commend him for his choice!

I agree! clapping.gif I think it speaks volumes that he would rather be at the side of a friend in need of support than scrapping away for a position at the Ryder Cup.

You definitely have to respect Paul for his decision, his friend means more than Ryder Cup points, as well it should

Mcginley's and Clarke's kids go to the same school. Obviously they are close friends.

Great move on his part, you and I would probably do the same.

I'd bet he'll be a Captain's pick if he doesn't get in on points.
