You may remember Darren and an incident at The Irish Open, where after an overnight delay, he found his ball in a better spot than he left it the previous night. So instead of hitting the shot that was now possible and reaching the green in regulation, he hit the shot he would have had to hit from the poorer lie and made bogey. In the end that shot could have made a difference as he would have needed par rather than birdie at the last on Sunday to get in a playoff and maybe would not have pressed so hard.
He won the shot of the month for his sportsmanship. Now he is auctioning the trophy to raise money for breast cancer, from which his wife is gravely ill.
