My cousin and I took a little 3 day golf trip to northern Michigan a little over a week ago. We were set up to play (and stay) at Grand Traverse Resort; The Bear, The Wolverine and Spruce Run. Well the booking agent messed up our reservations and they shorted us a round of 18 holes on Spruce Run. NO ONE there would admit their mistake and NO ONE would make a command decision to keep us happy (like maybe discounted the rate for 18 holes on their WORST course, Spruce Run). Therefore instead of (over)paying $80 for an extra round on Spruce Run we drove about 3 miles right down the street and played High Pointe Golf Course for $30, with cart! This course is a real gem, super great and friendly staff and a Top 50 public course (according to Golf Michigan Magazine) out of over 700 public golf courses. After playing 18 hole shere, we drove a bit and played 18 at Arcadia Bluffs (Pics are posted elsewhere in GT&L)....The front 9 is all links style and the back is more of a parkland layout. 3:45 minute round with a quick stop at the turn! This was Tom Doak's first solo designed course....

yeah, i played there a couple years ago. it really is a pretty good course. I liked the front nine the best. The back nine had too many doglegs and forced carries for my liking.

Played here twice, remember the front 9 being wide open and the back being closed in. I enjoyed the back 9 much more. Great golf course plus a great rate.
