Rory has a 20th at the masters, 10th at US open and 3rd at USPGA this year, and has been top 20 WGR for some time now...and I think he'll build on it....!
Ryo's good but Rory's better...

Rory is better than Ryo now, but Ryo is catching up soon since he's getting more comfortable playing outside of Japan and playing his own pace. Great talents for both.

Both incredible but Rory now. How about his 63 today, almost caught up to Mickelson and Ernie! He just seems to have the ability to play world class golf consistently and post good finishes at such a young age. Neither seems like streaky players though.

Considering their age it's hard to speculate but I'm going to put a little more weight on Mcilroy right now. So far it seems he has a better record on the PGA Tour and in majors. Ryo's 7 wins vs McilRoy's 2 is pretty impressive but I think he needs to play in some more PGA events.
Also, i put more weight on McIlroy because he does not have a headcover of himself (see my avatar).

Ryo was hitting a lot of weak slices off the tee last week. He was pretty frustrated. I did not see much of him but what I did witness was not impressive.

Gotta say Rory but it is pretty exciting to watch these young guys come out with no fear. They aren't afraid to go low!

Ryo and Rory both are very talented players.
I saw upclose Rory this year at Masters. Very different class than other young tour pros.
Ryo will have to overcome culture and other issues.
He is huge in Japan but not much so here in U.S.
His earning is guranteed in Japan but he has to earn it here in U.S.
No one knows if he will make it or break it but that is totally up to him and will be fun to watching
him coming up from young talented player to be great player.
IMHO, Rory is better right now but no one knows about future how things will turn up.

When you say McIlroy is in a different class to the other young pros can you expand on that? I've yet to see him play.

I watched him on the range in the Dunhill at Kingsbarnes in October 2007 and I was really impressed with his ball striking. I was only around 20 feet from the players and he was easily the most impressive from Harrington, Westwood, Poulter and David Howell. He has a high neutral flight that he just repeats with ease and has brilliant timing. I think I still have some footage from that day from the range and will try and post it if I find it, I think it is on my works p.c.
