Starting to see these a lot. I was watching the world series and it seems a lot of players are wearing these as well as guys on PGA tour. any info on them? are they for injuries or to help with something else. anyone have any experience with them? at first I thought it seemed silly but now I am seeing some real players wearing them and am starting to second guess myself.

Don't bother, it's all snake oil from people who can't even be bothered to squeeze the snake.

Magnet therapy has never been shown to work. Lots of people will probably give you personal testimony about how they worked for them but every time they do a proper scientific study there is no difference between the magnets and doing nothing. Gotta love the placebo effect.

The best thing you can do is to invest your money in physical therapy if you are injured or better yet, do it before you get injured!

I agree with doctor blood. The magnets have little physical effect on the human body. We have been surrounded by a giant magnetic field called the earth with no ill-effects at least for several years. As to whether you believe they work or not, that is another question. The placebo effect can never be underestimated on anything from rabbits feet to copper bracelets. If they give you a sense of well-being, then give them a go. Feeling good is good enough (what film was that?)

Willem Dafoe - good call.

Whether they do anything "scientifically" or not, if they make you feel better, even if it's all in your head, then they worked.

Personally have never tried them but have been tempted. I had surgery on my hand last spring and have some left over ache in there that will likely just be an ever present thing going forward. I've thought about getting a magnetic bracelet just to see, but being a skeptic to begin with I doubt I would derive any benefit. You have to believe in it for it to work.

Magnets are bogus. But, what's your take on these?

More woo.

Their site says 'The ideal human frequency, called the Schumann Resonating Frequency (SRF), is approximately 7.8 hertz. '. Well as far as I can tell, the Schumann frequency is the peaks of frequency in the earths magnetic field and that this is close to the alpha frequency of brain waves means nothing. Idiotic websites like this often claim that increasing your alpha puts you into a better state. It's just a little more complicated than that (mostly because it's backwards) but if you want to increase your alpha waves, simply closing your eyes will increase it. Weirdly there seems to be no research papers available on their site to back up their claims.

Until someone can provide some solid evidence that it works, it's up there with Astrology and Crystal Healing.

Probably because they are paid to or they are handed out to them free like Halloween candy. Being that us "normal folk" need to buy them, I'll pass.

The Wall Street Journal did a good article on the metals on/in the body theory. It was nothing more than a placebo as stated earlier. But if it helps the mental aspect of the person wearing it, so be it. Joba Chamberlin was quoted saying he doesn't care if it doesn't work, he tells himself it does work and therefore, he believes in it. It s a hugh multi-billion dollar industry based on unproven medicine.

I wear a giant coat of magnets with crystals glued to each magnet and a rabbit's foot wrapped around the zippers. This makes me EVEN better than when I wear a bracelet. Although it's so heavy I can't walk!

Increase alpha waves by closing your eyes, huh? Then I guess some people will try playing with their eyes closed? Hey--not knocking it, might help me.

Yeah, and these are the guys who will not use a ball numbered '3' or a yellow tee, and always carry their lucky dimes in their left pocket. Scientists and rationalists all.
