Hi,

Wondering if anyone tried the Nike golf sleeves? They are just sleeves that you put on your arms for cold days. They look like they would be pretty comfotable and useful on cold mornings.....anyone own these?

Cheers,
Darrin

I have a couple sets of these and they really work well. Alone, they are enough to keep you warm on brisk mornings, and on the rare occasion that you are out playing when it is really cold, they work great on top of a UA cold gear, or Nike equivalent. I was sort of skeptical when I got them, but find that I use them often, and always have a pair in the bag, and another in the car. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Thanks for the info! I live in NY and it is starting to get quite cold.....saw these today and thought they'd be quite nice to keep a bit warmer. I'm not a big fan of wearing too much when playing, plus I figured that by just having sleeves, it probably would free up my shoulds a touch more for a free flowing swing.

thanks for your thoughts....

Can't say enough good things about sleeves. Currently own many pairs. They come with a little bag for storage which is nice. I keep a set in my bag, in my trunk, at my house. They are a nice alternative to wearing a long sleeve shirt-on the off chance it warms up while you are playing and you don't want to roast! Also, they are great for golf at the end of the day, just in case it cools off quickly and you aren't dressed right.

Also, I have seen the 2010 Nike Outerwear lineup. It includes the next generation of the thermal sleeves---SUMMER SLEEVES. Called "Dri-Fit Solarsleeve", they have a UV rating of 30 UPF, and are designed to protect your arms from the sun without using sunscreen. Not sure about this one, but then again I was skeptical of the Thermal ones, and now I own 4 sets!!!

I keep a pair in bag at all times. Simple because wear your short sleeve polo and when it starts to get chilly just put them on. Like these a lot better than wearing a jacket.

No problem. It is also getting very cold here in Chicago. I also hate feeling restricted when I am playing, and the double layer cold gear is great in the cold and wind. Once you get some, you will not want to play without them in the bag. Changing your gear based on changing conditions has never been easier. I have the Nikes, but my brother swears by the Pearl Izumi's that he got from the bicycle shop.

How long are the sleeves for L/XL? Do they sag down at all as you play?

I wear the M/L. Just get them out of the bag (never measured them before!). They are 17" long, 5.5" Diameter at the bicep. That's really the critical measurement since they stretch longwize to fit. The bicep does get a little stretched out after a couple of rounds. I throw them in the wash and they snug back up. Also, there is a little band of sticky stuff inside the sleeve at the bicep which seems to get less sticky due to sweat/oils. That goes away after a wash, and I'm back in business.

Hope that helps!

They work great. I got some on Ebay for $15 shipped.

I actually broke mine out for a round on Sunday morning as it was a little cool here in Charlotte. I agree with the above post that they work great for keeping you warm but not restricting your swing, as some jackets or pullovers do.

Where did you guys get yours, Ebay?

Love mine, but the guys I play with like to give me a hard time about them. Got mine off Nike's online outlet.

If you dont have these get them, they are great. i would like to see NIKE make a pair that is just a tad thicker or warmer, maybe microfleece lined. I actually wear them just out and about too. If I dont want to wear a jacket and its in the mid low 50's, i just pick the color of the shirt im wearing (white or black) and it looks like a long sleeve shirt but better.

I am curious about the summer ones coming out for the summer.

I picked up a Wilson shirt similar to the Solarsleeve you are describing. It was wonderful. You'd think you would roast but you didn't. Just make sure to get the right size, because I put on a few pounds and it did restrict my swing a month later. But the concept is spot on, IMHO.

OP, the sleeves are awesome. Get them.

I agree with everyone, the sleeves are worth picking up. They are comfortable and easy to take on and off. Come in handy on those mornings where the temp is in the high 40's / low 50's, but by the back nine the temp is up in the 60's.

Picked up a pair in black and white! Giving them a run tomorrow!

This concept has been around forever in the cycling world.

We call them arm warmers. Just about every clothing has a couple different sets out of varying warmth.

They work great in cycling for morning races/rides when it starts chilly but warms up. The design makes them easy to remove while riding. My one is is that my shoulders get cold too.

What I have found is that a thin sleaveless underarmor base layer works well with the arm warmers. It will keep your core warm, won't get in your way, and won't get too warm.

They also make leg warmers. I never thought of it, but they might be nice under a pair of pants for those late fall mornings. The kind where its 40* till 11am and then is 68* by 1pm.

Arm stockings are for sissies!!!!!!!!

Just kidding. These things are perfect for golf in Texas this time of year when it's mid-40's when you tee off in mid-40's to 50's temps just as the sun comes up. By the end of the front nine, the temp has usually increseased 15 degrees or more, so then you can just slide them off, stuff them in the little bag, and put it in your golf bag. Also great when I've worn a golf shirt to work and decide to stop off at the range in the early evening just as the sun has gone down. One of my best purchases in years!

These are standard issue gear for cyclists when it gets cold and we refer to them as arm warmers. If you want a wider variety than what Nike offers, check out any bike store that caters to cyclists or REI.

Just make sure to try them on if you go that route. My wife and I were in Chicago last weekend for the marathon(she ran). I had lost the Nike arm warmers I had bought early in the year, so I was on the lookout to replace them. At the race expo, the Nike booth had arm warmers, different from the golf ones, but still arm warmers, so I picked up a pair. Tried them on at the hotel, and the upper part was so narrow it started to dig into my bicep. I'm hardly Mr guns, just have normal size biceps, yet those were way too tight. There is no widening as you get further up the arm.

Ended up getting a pair of the golf ones at the Niketown the next day, and they are designed for people with larger upper arms. Be sure they fit you.
