Hi All,

I'll be in Vegas from Oct. 10-15 and looking to get a couple rounds in. Any recommendations from those familiar with Vegas courses? I'm into nice scenery/layout and nothing too challenging -- afterall I'm a mid-capper on vacation!

Any input/advice is greatly appreciated -- thanks in advance!

It will depend on what your budget is for playing and whether you will have a rental car. If money is no object and if you're staying at a MGM property you can go top of the line at Shadow Creek for $500, for a little bit better on the wallet I would say Bear's Best, Boulder Creek, Revere-Lexington, Paiute, or even Las Vegas National where "Casino" was filmed is a nice course for the money.

If you have a rental car, take the hour's drive north and play Wolf Creek or Coyote Springs.

Thanks for the input guys. Golfinnova, I won't be landing till later on the 10th so I don't think I'll be able to make your round.

I'm hoping to get atleast 2 (maybe 3) rounds in during my stay...I was thinking TPC Las Vegas and Silverstone for sure, and then maybe Primm Valley or Highland Falls...thoughts? I won't have a rental car and will be staying at the Venetian. Bali Hai looks interesting as well...is it worth the 200+ they're charging??? $500 is waaay outta my league!

I concur on Primm Valley, too far for taxi. I'm a member at Silverstone so I can get you on cheap; however, the course is in rough shape. I played there yesterday, the fairways are punched in a lot of spots and the greens are pretty beat up from all the tournaments they have hosted. I would recommend going to Painted Desert or Aliante since they just re-opened from overseeding.

Legacy is a favorite of mine, good layout. They were CPO last week so you want to call ahead to see if they have opened it up. Bali Hai is ok, not really worth the fees they charge. I think they charge it because it's the only course on the strip. Personally, I would rather play at Las Vegas National which will only be a 10 minute taxi ride and with the green fees you will come out much cheaper than what Bali Hai charges for greens fees.

One of my suppliers played Desert Pines yesterday, was in great shape but the greens have tons of undulations. He told me he shot 81 with 11 3-putts, ouch. Highland Falls isn't a bad choice, great views of the strip from the 13th tee IIRC.

If you want to play Silverstone, I might be able to play with you on the 15th late morning/early afternoon. Shoot me a PM and I can set it up for you.

I'm heading to Vegas for New Years and planning on playing Wolf Creek.
What should I expect for weather and would I be able to finish if my wife and I start at 11 am?
I am Canadian, so cold weather - I don't mind

You should be fine as long as you start by 11:30am. After noon you never can tell.

It will be cold, high of about 45' probably still be in the 30's when you start.

I am going for Thanksgiving Weekend, booked Wolf Creek and TPC Las Vegas...both starting at 10:30 AM
What's the weather like in a couple of weeks...I see high 60's low 70's right now. Can you get away with short sleeves
and maybe a sleeve-less sweater then or will it be much colder by then ?

If its in the 70's no problem.

If its in the 60's it will depend on wind and sun. No matter what all you will most likely need is under-armour type undershirt.

I played Silverstone when we went during the summer, and would recommend it. Shame it is beat up right now though. It was a pretty nice course, in great shape, when we went.

just got back. badlands is 65.00 after 12:00, ive paid over double that before, very scenic target golf course was in great condition, also played lexington course at revere in henderson its my favorite, many great views and beautiful golf holes. i love playing courses with challangeing landscape and scenic views, the falls was very good but i heard it closed. there are many good courses in vegas but when i leave my good courses in ks. i want at least a hill, desert, lake or view. its not really that bad.

thx...I actually like the mid low 60's for golf. Usually play with a short sleeves in that weather ;-) Yeah, I heard it gets chilli at night usually.

A friend and I are heading back to LV from Dec 4-7 and are planning to play TPC and Bear's Best! Noon-ish tee times for both to take advantage of the twilight rates...do y'all foresee any problems with getting a full 18 in? I'm assuming (hoping?) that it won't be too busy and, with us in carts, hopefully we can wrap up holes quick-er!

Dragon Ridge and Paiute Wolf are nice. The Primm Desert course is better than the Primm Lakes course.
