What's up guys.
So Jack Nicklaus decided to pop in on Creighton Farms Golf Course in Aldie, Virginia, and I (a reporter) and my video crew were there.
He designed the course himself, yet hasn't played on it (and wasn't able to today because of the rain/storm shortly after this interview).
But it was awesome talking to him 1 on 1, and I thought you guys would love to hear some of what he said. This is part 1/4 in the "Nicklaus and Me" series. I'll keep you guys updated on here.
Here's the link:
http://www.loudouni.com/sports/2009-09-30/...1-direct-masterThis is the interview part -- the other segments will focus on golf tips and trips, etc. (something we can all benefit on) and will be up one-by-one in the following days.
Enjoy!
Also, I'm pretty new to this broadcast thing, so bear with me, haha.
Oh! I also got several pictures of his bag for you club hos, and will be posting those tomorrow morning.
Let me know!

Edit, pictures of the Bear's bag and his stretching routine:

Can anyone figure out what's in the bag?

Part 2 is up!
Here's #2 guys. It's a bit long, but Nicklaus talks about golf course design

Wow, that was an awesome interview. I really like how you asked him the questions. Seriously, you have a knack for it. I also (ALWAYS) love to listen to the greatest of all time speak about golf design. Well Done!!!!!! I had a brief one on one (not like you did) with Jack at the 01 Sr. Open for about 10 seconds and will never forget it. He's my favorite. Thanks for sharing.

Haha I disagree. I don't think "Nicklaus and I" has nearly the same dramatic effect.
Grammar be damned in catchy headlines and titles

.
For example, the movie "Marley and Me". "Marly and I"?
Nahhhh.
But thanks for the feedback! Wait till you see this guys' form (in the next video). Beautiful, beautiful golf swing (obv.) still, despite being 69. Incredible.

Haha, it's a pretty cool bag. His head covers looked generic to me, so I couldn't really figure out what clubs he was hitting. His irons were sweet, but couldn't tell you what they were either. Maybe you guys will be able to enlighten me from the pictures.
Will be posting early in the AM, second video will be up tomorrow as well. Thanks for all the great feedback so far!

Straightshooter,
In 01 I took the week off and caddied in the Sr. Open. It was a course I grew up caddying on, so I knew it very well. During one of the practice days, I walked the full width of one of the fways with Jack on the way back from the range. I was with my player and reached my hand out and intro'd my self to Jack. I asked him "what do you think about the course". (It was a Ross course) I remember he said something like "I think its a really good course, there are some really good holes out there, ect, ect". He was in a very good mood that day and that week. Not sure if you remember, but that was probably the last major he did really well in. He almost won it that week. I also walked 16 holes with him the 1st night he got there for a practice round, he snuck in about 2.5hrs before it got dark and only about 30 of us followed him while everybody else went home. There was a ton of interaction with him and the crowd that night. I was very impressed with how Jack treated the diverse group of folks that night. Some people were being a little big obnoxious at times, yelling "you the bear" and he seemed to just love it. He has so much class.
Again... nice piece you posted. I really enjoyed it.

Very good job!
I had the opportunity to play 4 holes in a event with Jack back in 2002 at Scioto......I had cold chills and had a hard time breathing for those four holes. I'll never forget I hit a decent drive but it bounced back into some trees. I was just going to chip out and he suggested instead I play a different shot. He had me hood my 4 iron and hook it low around a tree.....he walked me through step by step on how to execute the shot and sure enough the ball rolled all the way up on to the green. I tell my wife all the time that was the greatest moment of my life much to her anger.

Wow, he needs to teach me a shot like that. I'm always in the woods. Or the water. Wonder if he knows how to play from the bottom of the lake?

It almost looks like they have his signature on them. Take a look at the iron that sticking up the highest in the bag. It's hard to see though. I bet he designed them.
Edit: Saw the link to his irons after I posted this.

No, Yanger took home most of the $$$. But I did have the shot of the day. He wrote about it in a thread last week.
I'll look forward to seeing the other links. I've been wanting to get out and see that course, I know the project has been sold from the Ritz people, but I would like to still try and finagle a tee time there.

Priceless video right there. You gotta listen to ever word Jack says, his word is pretty much Gospel when it comes to the golf swing. He really is the master at fundamentals. So many players today are way too focused on mechanics IMO, he's right. Just get the club back square and release it through, thats pretty much his message. I've seen Miller Barber (jack's example) hit driver after driver when he was still playing really well and that swing is chop compared to Furyk, but he hit it as good as anybody.
