Currently looking at clubs in Southeast Charlotte. Would love to hear thoughts or opinions from current or former members of Ballantyne Country Club. What do you like? Not like? Did you compare to Providence or Piper Glen?

Thanks in advance!

I'm not a member, but I did play there earlier this year. I liked the golf course a lot. Good layout and pretty challenging from the tips. Practice facilities seemed pretty good and the club house was very nice. I played Piper Glen a few years ago in the US Open qualifier and I wasn't crazy about the course. It wasn't very difficult and I was just a bit disappointed since it was a TPC course (at the time). I haven't played Providence.

If you are looking to join a club, I think the most important factor is the membership. Who are they? Are there (a lot of) people like yourself - especially in age - that you are likely to enjoy playing with and socializing with? The courses themselves are far less important.

Thanks Guys. Doc- got it. Very familiar with the reasons "why," just looking for candid feedback from real members.

All three clubs are very similar. All have very similar memberships. A lot of transplats who have moved down to work at the banks. Ballantyne and Piper Glen have several professional athletes as members. All three courses are basically 18 holes of houses on both sides. I'm not sure what initiation runs at the clubs, but they aren't the top tier clubs in Charlotte, but aren't bottom tier either. I also wouldn't say any course is better than the other. All are about 8th best in the city
