Phil nearly holes it out from the fairway. The balls goes in but flagstick hurts his cause. Then out of nowhere Johnny Miller makes that remark. What are some of the sayings youve heard Miller say but makes you think WHAT IN THE WORLD Johnny? Lets hear them.

Johnny Miller is my favorite announcer because he's always interesting...
that being said i always chuckle when he says a player hit it "one groove too high on the club" or the like ..LOL

Ah, the weekly Johnny Miller thread...
"He's just gonna hit a little TRAP DRAW."
I like listening to Miller because he always has something wacky to say. A lot of his catch phrases get old though.

Silly statement really. If the flagsticks really were made from plutonium, the caddies would struggle to lift them out of the cup - the weight would be astronomical.

I can't stand anything that comes out of Johnny's mouth, but I absolutely can't stand him referring to a putt as a "trick putt". Also, why does he refer to holes as 3 pars, 4 pars and 5 pars instead of, "this is a par 3, or par 4" etc... And how the players are always putting across the "fall line", and "boy, that was a cool little shot Tiger hit". I could go on and on and on!

I like how to claimed to learn how to plumb bob from the guy who invented it. He said it yesterday as Kenny Perry was doing it, and said that Kenny doesn't do it right. Kenny holed it out, and Miller said, whatever he's doing must work for him!
I laughed pretty good..

I agree with you. I cant stand Johnny Miller. I am surprised how many Johnny Lovers there are. He is so negative and always comments on how it was a horrible shot, etc. He acts and talks like he could beat anybody on the course. I also cant stand watching golf on NBC. They never show scores and are not very informative. You will especially notice this if you are switching back and forth with football. Its a shame that the tournament isn't showing on CBS or the Golf Channel.

I personally don't mind listening to NBC. I like Johnny Miller's criticism and weird lingo. Gary Koch has a cool voice. Roger Maltbie, Mark Rolfing, Dan Hicks, Dottie Pepper, and the other guy who is on course don't bother me at all. On CBS, Feherty makes me laugh, but Oosterhous does annoy me on the occasion.

Roger said the putt was 5 feet, and it was really about 22 feet. Wouldn't you want someone to sell you 22 feet of real estate for the price of 5? That was just about the only good one Miller got in all day (and it was really quick), so let's not take it away from him.

Think about it though, if the flagsticks were made of Plutonium, the balls would actually be attracted to them... The stick would be so dense, that it would have its own mini gravitational field that would pull balls to the hole. Any physics professors out there?

I'm sure we don't need a physics professor to figure out Johnny's comments. Johnny probably saw a periodic table for the last time in 1970, and I'm 100% sure he meant to say "Kryptonite".

JM always seems to know where a player is "looking" - "Hey Rog - Tiger is looking 3" left of the hole". How does he know - he can't see Tiger's eyes most of the time and even when he can, camera angles can create a lot of distortion. Bugs the "s---" out of me.

The same way he knows when someone hit it .0025 grooves high.
Or the same way he knows how "the v grooves next year" would have impacted a shot played this year.

I don't think he is that bad and he often says some interesting stuff. At the very least he can be entertaining. As a golfer he was phenomenal when he was on it back in the day - tremendously exciting to watch. I still remember him losing his patience and temper with a tv celebrity in the UK when he was trying to get him to hit a certain type of shot around the green and the celebrity just wasn't getting it - fabulous stuff. I was a fan as a child and I still am (a fan I mean - not a child....).

I think he said something like 'when I was playing a draw' - I don't think he said that he played his best hitting a draw. Sometimes people just see what they want to see or hear what they want to hear.
