Hey everyone,
Just wondering what everyone is sporting before heading to the course. The reason I ask is because I'm a student and usually before going to a course, I'm in class all day. I usually try to save some time and dress in slacks/khaki's, golf shirt, and hat to class. I've been having trouble finding sneakers to wear that would match so I've been wearing loafers to class. Are there any decent sneakers I could sport to class while still looking decent with slacks and a golf shirt? I generally never really wear dress shoes unless it's a formal event. I would much rather be comfortable while in class.
This just looks a little weird IMO.

I just wear my regular sneakers. Here's a thought though, why don't you just change in your car at the course. You'll be comfy in class and you won't have to walk around wearing golf clothes with regular shoes.

depending on your weather, you could rock some flip flops or sperry's. i normally wear these to the golf course anyways.
but i'd have to agree with the previous poster and just say get changed in the car/parking lot. surely the 5 minutes you'd save isn't worth that much.
as an aside, i play in a work league and i'll see many guys in the office wearing what they'd wear on the course to the office to avoid having to change, i could never fully understand that. i personally like to look a bit more professional in the office than just a polo and some khakis, but that's just me.

Well, I do change into my spikes when I get to the course... are you recommending that I change my entire outfit in my car? I drive a coupe and that really isn't an option for me lol and going home to change from school is really out of the way for me. I don't mind wearing slacks and golf shirt as they are pretty comfortable. I'm just wondering what sneakers are available to wear to school while still matching appropriately.

okay... I think people are misunderstanding my question.
I change into soft spikes when I get to the course. The course I usually play at require soft spikes and no sneakers or slippers allowed. I was just asking what people wear with their golf outfit off the course other than dress shoes.

Ships,
I personally wouldn't wear sneakers with khakis and a polo to work or class. Just not my style. If I'm in shorts to run around b4 a round I'll wear sneakers, otherwise its boat shoes or a pair of black loafers/dress shoes. If you're going to try and dress up a little, don't ruin it with sneakers!

Ecco's if I'm wearing pants, Sperry's if I'm wearing shorts. A polo and pants just don't look right unless you have some sort of dressish shoe on.

Thanks for your input. I wasn't really saying sneakers like Nike shox but some more along the lines of ecco's. Looks a like a hybrid between sneakers and dress shoes.

I only wear spikes now-a-days when it is squishy out. I mostly wear Etonic G-Soks so when I think I might be playing later, I'll just put them on in the morning and whenever I get to the course I'm ready.

I only wear Piloti shoes. They make some great classic looking all-leather styles (as well as wild colored driving shoes). They're all driving shoes and are super comfy. The company was started by a guy who used to design shoes for adidas.
Here are some of my favorites.

Stop being such a girl. Alright, that was mean. Change in the bathroom at the course. Change in the bathroom after your last class. Change in the parking lot. Or get the champs streetcaps, wear your golf shoes, and just swap out the spikes at the course.

Given your questions, OP, you need more fashion guidance than this thread (or this site, for that matter) can provide.
Spend a few bucks and pick up, say, The Handbook of Style: A Man's Guide to Looking Good (Esquire).
It will be money well spent.

Are u kidding me? Change all the golf shoes soft spikes to the street caps? That's just TOO MUCH WORK... Also, I'd be afraid to wear out the golf shoes threads (along with the soft spikes holding "nubs") with the constant back & forth changes. Besides, didn't he say he wanted to do "quick" changes? Changing about a total of 14 spikes don't seem to be a "quick" thing for me.

I guess I don't understand. Are slacks a requirement for both class and course? Why not wear shorts? Then it really doesn't matter what shoes you wear.
I wear Croc's either way since I have several styles that fit a lot of different situations.
But if you insist on on slacks and a non-athletic shoe combo, it's hard to go wrong with a Venetian style slip on. Cole Haan, Johnston & Murphy, and Allen Edmonds all make nice options.

I usually wear khaki shorts or black golf shorts cause its alway hot in Texas until about November, so I just wear my Nike sandals lol slip them off put the golf shoes on good to go.
And if i dont want to ruin new spikes wear them until first tee since the fit in bag easily.

It can get pretty cold in NY sometimes so shorts really aren't an option. Slacks aren't required in class, but they are required at the course I play at. I don't mind wearing slacks to school from time to time as it really doesn't bother me at all. I actually feel more comfortable in slacks and golf shirt than jeans and t-shirt.
I've made up my mind and I think I'm going to get the Kenneth Cole's or Cole Haan's.
Thanks everyone.

I've been to a bunch of pga tournaments and almost every player I have seen comes to the course in either flip flops or sneakers. I've seen a bunch of them practice in their sneakers as well. For me personally if it's not hot out I just throw on a clean pair of Nike's and I'm good to go.

+1.
I rock Sperry's about anywhere I go. The are really comfortable and you can get them in different styles/materials. I also have several pais of causual loafers that I wear with slacks. They are in style and very comfortable. Just get something that slips on.
Some of these are a little pricey, I know you are still a student. I have found deals on them at discount shoe stores and during fall sales. Just keep your eyes open. There also several differnt brands you could go with, I just wasnted to give you an idea of what I was talking about.

I wear a pair of low cut tassle soft soled slip on loafers/shoes without socks. I generally play golf in shorts due to the heat and humidity so they work well. I rarely ever wear any thing that you would classify as sneakers or tennis shoes. Just not my thing. If I'm wearing slacks then I wear tassle loafers with socks.
