I am looking to order a rain jacket and pants but I'm not sure what size I need or how to measure for it. My pant size is 36" but the sizing for rain pants are different....I assume because they are slip overs, please help.

34x34 pant size on me = large nike storm fit.
love these pants, so comfy and definitely watertight. i may have been able to wear a medium, but with rain pants id rather them be too big than too small. i think these are perfect, sit right on my waist and go down to my heel. great pair of pants and cant recommend enough.

Are you guys using the Storm fit rain pants or the light storm fit rains pants? the light version is cheaper but not sure what the difference is, but I'm guessing the regular is both wind and water proof and the light version is just waterproof?

I will suggest looking at gander mountain or another outdoor store. They have some great rain equipment, and sometimes at unbelievable cheap prices. And if it's for fishing, you know it will be waterproof.

Not to thread-jack... but for those of you playing in hard enough rain to make rain pants necessary, how do you keep everything dry that needs to stay dry? Seems to me that, without a caddy, that would be a pretty distracting series of maneuvers.

Just did this last week...it has been raining non stop in the Southeast. It is a royal pain to keep dry....especially if you are riding in a cart. Essentially, I think you just need to be prepared to be wet, have good rain gear and a rain glove(s). I don't care to play in weather like this...but wanted to play and it was raining.

I wear rain pants probably close to half of the year here in Portland as it's always so wet (and they're warm). I'd much rather keep the bottom of my regular pants dry by wearing rain pants... rather than experience the alternative.
I don't quite understand your question though. Keep what else dry?

Sometimes you can't. With rain gloves, it does not matter that your grips are wet.

i use the regular storm fit pants, not the light ones. cost about 100 or so, but to me they are worth every penny. its been pouring here in the southeast and call me masochistic, but i love playing in bad weather. its impossible to keep everything dry. i hate rain gloves, so i carry about 4-5 gloves with me when i play. really comes in handy on the rainy days, or the hot sweaty ones. i carry two towels, one cheap one tied to my bag that i use to wipe off mud, wet aces, the likes, and another nicer towel i keep in my bag to dry my hands and wipe my grips. other than that a good rain hood does wonders. youre fighting a losing batter; you just gotta embrace that you and your clubs are gonna get wet.

Great choices on the rain gear. A bucket hat really helps. Its hard to go wrong with Goretex. I love my Goretex rain gear.

Interesting thread.
My problem is I'm shorted and, ahem, a little more "gifted" in the waist... 38 x 29 is my usual size.
I purchased a Zero Restriction jacket last week in Large- fit great. No love for the pants, though. They're either way too long or too tight in the waist.
Other than the "lose weight" idea (yea, I'm trying, don't worry!)- are their any brands with a more "adaptive" set of sizes? I really love the ZR Gore-Tex jacket- I'd love to get a similar set of pants.

Why don't you go get the rain pants tailored? I've had pairs of proquip, zr, nike, footjoy pants and none of them have head and shoulders above any of the others. I'd just buy what fits... or get what you want tailored.

I just bought a pair of Adidas Men's ClimaProof Soft-shell Trouser. They are currently getting shortened. They are supposed to be waterproof, but they look and fit like regular pants so I don't have to wear shorts or pants under them. Hopefully, they work out so I don;t have to deal with another layer in the future
Anyone else ever wear these"

Both Nike and adidas make rain pants with adjustable inseams (snaps, and buttons). I think Mizuno does, too.

I am 38 inch waist and I purchased XLs in rain pants. The pants I bought are adjustable in the waist. Otherwise, they would probably be too big. I would also recommend that you not waste your money on anything that is not Goretex. I have purchased 2 pairs of rain pants in the past 8 years that were not Goretex and honestly it was a waste of money. I have an old pair of Macgregor Tourney Goretex rain pants that I purchased in 1990 when I was much smaller in the waist and my son is now wearing them and they still keep him dry. The 2 pair of pants I bought since then...in a hard rain you will get wet. The new gear I bought this year is Goretex and while it cost me a bloody fortune, I have worn it several times playing in tournaments in a hard rain and never got wet...by the rain anyway.

Same here, I use the same rain gear I bought for my motorcycle. Works great.

gortex is great, probably the pinnacle of breathable waterproof material, but some of the new products by nike and adidas have come a long way. my only issue with gortex is that its kinda thick and heavy. the waterproof stuff from nike and callaway is thin and light, and offers great waterproof protection.

I know it sounds strange, but check out REI. The Marmot PreCip full-zip pants in XL.

not to bump an old thread, but does anyone know the actual difference between the FootJoy performance series and light performance series? I do not need the rain gear for warmth (some wind protection might be nice but not my main concern). I really want to get something that is waterproof first, and if both are equally waterproof I will probably go with the cheaper ones (the light series)
