Need to find a decent and convenient location in Central New Jersey for a business round of golf with clients.

I live in Manhattan but will be playing a business round of golf on a Thursday in the Baltimore area that will include after golf dinner, drinks. Therefore, I'll be staying over in Baltimore Thursday night and will be heading back toward NYC Friday morning. Looking to find a decent course somewhere north of Princeton but south of NYC where I could likely get a Friday late-morning tee-time.

I know of a few courses in Westchester, southern CT and Long Island that would fit the bill but because I will be coming from Baltimore, Westchester, CT and LI won't work.

A couple of years ago, I would've picked Pine Barrens but it has gone fully private so I can't get a tee-time anymore. I also like some of the Monmouth Cty golf courses (Hominy, etc.) but can't get a tee-time as a non-resident.

Any other suggestions would be welcomed!

Thanks.

Depending on how much you are willing to spend.

The expensive option: I heard you could get tee time at TPC Jasna Polana, and there is hardly people there as it is full private. However, they would charge you $500 (I think) temporary membership fee plus the cost of the round. Not sure if you actually had to book all 4some at a time. I know someone who paid only $200 for a practice round there before our tournament there.

The cheaper option could be Royce Brook. The West couse there is public, pretty nice and usually not very packed. It's somewhat challenging but not extremely difficult.

2nd Royce Brook. It is the east that is public.

Definitely have heard good things about Neshanic but also heard that it's very hard to get tee-times. Think that would be true for late Friday morning?

I have played Neshanic Valley, and it is a great course. I made a tee time once, and walked on once. I had to wait a bit when I walked on, but it wasnt that long. I dont recall it being hard to make a tee time.

Royce Brook is a nice course as well. I played it a couple of times while I was up there too.

I personally thought Neshanic was a little nicer, but either one would be a great choice.

Neshanic has 27 holes, this is my home track. The best of the nines are called Lake and Ridge.

Played Neshanic about 2 weeks ago. It's a beautiful track and I don't think you could really go wrong with any of the three nine hole courses.

Neshanic looks great but non-residents can only make tee-times one-day in advance. Unless I somehow can sign-up for the non-resident reservation membership, which I think I have to do in person, I will have to hope to get lucky one day in advance.

On the other hand, Royce Brook has 10 day advance booking so it might have to be Royce Brook.

Thanks to everyone for the info!

If you're coming up Route 95 or 295, you could go up Route 31 north and hit Heron Glen just south of Flemington. That is the Hunterdon County Public course. It's about 8 years old and pretty nice.

Exit 67, I believe off 95/295. --> Heron Glen

Never played this course. I will look to add it to the rotation. How is it compared to Neshanic? Is it possible to walk-on on a weekend or do you need a tee time?

Neshanic is on my list to play before season's end. They do recommend a tee time on weekends at Heron Glen. I have seen hand carts on the weekend but perhaps only after 2:00 PM?

It is a nice clean course.

Where did you end up playing and how was it?
