today at the Deutsche Bank Championship tiger was wearing what appeared to be a Nike Dri-Fit shirt, except that it had a big "S" where the nike logo usually is. Can anyone tell me what that was??? possibly his alma mater, Stanford?? and if it was Stanford or whatever i cant imagine that nike would be to pleased about that........
j-rob
It looked like the Stanford logo to me.

seems like you may have missed the early part of the broadcast. Steve Sands reported it early on saying the Nike staffers would all be dressed in their Alma Mater colors to honor the start of the college football season.

it was also on the ::NIKEGOLF Twitter page:

Check out this story and check out the Nike athletes on Saturday at Deutsche Bank. http://bit.ly/L6Em3

What I'll never understand is why he wears those 80's balloon pants? They look ridiculous and Nike should be a little more up to date with the current fashions. Those grey ones today were out of control!

Not all that rare--Anthony Kim didn't graduate from Oklahoma. Just look at how many NFL, NBA, MLB players don't graduate from a school, but it's still the one they support.

I wore a North Carolina hat the other day. Didn't go there. Should I throw it away? Let me know guys. Thanks.

they are not 80's balloon pants. they are Italian cut wide leg pants.

it is a current trend in Europe, and Italy, specifically.

i would much rather see someone wearing wide leg pants, than try to stuff their fat into skinny pants.

also, as mentioned above, they aren't Nike pants. they are made of a material that Nike has yet to use in a public, retail release called COOLMAX.

Thanks for the laugh, I love a dry sense of humor.

The current trend in Europe is skinny and slim. There's no such thing as Italian wide leg pants (thats an American marketing ploy to sell pants that don't sell in in italy.) Thats why Roger Federer makes fun of Tigers pants all the time. Look at J. Lindeberg clothing to get a sense of European golf attire.

If you watched the telecast from the beginning, the golf channel stated that Nike outfitted all of the players in shirts or hats from there alma mater or the college they went to since Saturday was the beginning of the College Football Season!

that's interesting, because i recently returned from visitng my sister in Italy, and i picked up a couple pairs of wide leg pants that i was not able to find in the US.

but, if you say so...

i know the trend is toward slim and skinny fit, i'm just telling you what i've experienced.

I would much rather see someone wearing a baggier pair of comfortable pants than tight pants, such as the current Euro fashion. Unless of course we are talking about women, but that is a different subject for a different board. The European look with the skinny legged pants and the 2 sizes too small shirts is rather silly looking. It almost looks like someone is trying to stuff themselves into the clothes they wore in high school, even though they no longer fit.
jadedennill
Tiger is hands down the best dressed guy on tour. His pants look like they were made for him, not a 12 year old boy like the lindeberg stuff the euros wear.
boomgoesthedynamite
Tiger's pants are designed by Charlotte-based designer Cary Mitchell.
