Hello fellow golfers...
anyone have any input for say, 8 people playing on a sunday am, all leaving from the hyatt in dearborn?
money is NO object
distance should be 30 minutes or LESS...
hard courses are not preferrerd over easier ones, but we can still do hard..

The best course within 30 minutes is Lakes of Taylor. The greens will probably have been aerified by then so they won't be as great as they are right now. If you extend your trip time a little bit I would consider Moose Ridge and Shephards Hollow.

The Orchards in Washington twp. Best public course within 45 min. 2002 Publinx finals played there won by Ryan Moore, current pga tour player.

There are endless options all within 45 min to 1 hr.
Try Shepherd's Hollow.

Call TPC of Michigan. Tell them your situation and I can almost guarantee they would let you play. They have a program right now that is like a trial membership deal.
You pay $100 and every round after that is $50 bucks.
Considering the economy, I would at least call them.
No offense to Lakes of Taylor, but the fairways are slow, and they don't have the tips out, ever. Blue tee only.
For the most part, yes it is nice, but I don't see how it compares to Gaylord courses that charge $25 bucks all you can play. You put those Gaylord courses by Lakes of Taylor, they would be $60-75 dollars a round. Location, I guess.
Also, good luck playing under 4 hours, because they get like 55,000-60,000 rounds a year. Sundays are impossible. Good luck.

Last time I crossed from Detroit to Windsor, they were still nowhere near opening I-75 in that stretch. It could be a bit tricky getting around to the bridge. I think ambassador is only about 10 minutes once across, but you are dealing with the unkown of the border crossing. You'll need 20 to get to the bridge.

Inkster Valley isn't a bad muni - a little pricey but a decent track. Not in the nicest area but I've never had any problems.
I second TDK on calling TPC of Michigan - they are apparently hurting pretty badly in this economy.

Give TPC a call, you're right across the street... also Dearborn CC. Another great course, literally minutes away. Private though. Dearborn's a good spot, as you're close to a lot of the freeways. Lakes of Taylor has a great set of greens that are usually in great shape, but the rest can get somewhat shaggy at times. I shudder to think of what it's like there on a normal Sunday, but in Oct, it might be pretty decent for you. Inkster Valley is nice, some spots are pretty tricky though. Rackham in Huntington Woods is a nice, cheap, public with a good amount of Donald Ross left. Shepherd's Hollow and Orchards are good as well, but at least 45 mins from Dearborn. There's some good ones towards Ann Arbor as well, but again, 45 mins probably.
And stop at Dearborn Italian Bakery on Ford Rd. Get some pizza.

dearborn is about 15-20 min down 94 from the bridge or tunnel.
Ambassador is 20 min from the border.
About 35 min total but worth it.
