Brae Burn just outside Boston is one of those old Donald Ross Courses that has the rich history of US Amateur's , Curtis Cup matches, stomping grounds for guys like Sam Snead and many others. Its a really great course. Today was the 1st time I played it and was only there one other time, which was in the mid 1980s, when I cadded 36 holes during a US Open Local Qualifier for a very good Pro who know plays the Champions Tour. That day he shot 2 or 3 under for 36 and I believe was medalist. I've always wanted to play here since that day and finally had a great opportunity. It didn't dissapoint. Besides the green recently being airated (about 6 days ago), the course was awesome. 6600 from the tips, par 72. Its typical D.Ross. Great bunkering, sloped greens, mounding and fescue. Here are a few pics.

Ah Good ole Brae Burn. Love that track. Used to play there quite a bit when I was a pro in New England. Those pictures bring back some memories. Thanks for sharing and what a great golf course.

Hey John,
I played pretty good. Shot 79 from the back tees. (par 72), I started out bogie, double, but managed to get my act together after a few holes. 3 birds over the last 10 holes also helped. The 1st pic is of a shortish par 4, the tee shot is between those trees you see, you hit it to a blind fairway and have a wedge uphill, thats my 75 yard sw shot 3 feet short. That was one of my birds.
There are some absolutely fantastic holes out there. Its an old classic. If they added some length to the course, this would be a great US Open track, but IMO its really a masterpiece as is. Great golf course. I loved it.

Wow, that looks like it beats the heck out of ours, though we do have the advantage of a baseball stadium to play around.

Yeah, that Brae Burn looks pretty good, but the one I played is in another league. I'm gonna try and post some more pics later this week. My camera was acting strange after the 12th hole, but my bro got about 35 great shots with a super camera.
