Im playing the black next week with a friend or as a single. Got myself a 130pm tee time going to keep checking the system for a earlier one throughout the week. Never played the black before but i walked it during the open for 7 days. I carry my driver 250-260 yards and hit my hybrids pretty good which i assume ill be hitting into a lot of the greens. What are some of your tips? Im 17 and i shoot in the mid 80s. Im going to use a pull cart or carry my bag. Should i expect a 6 hour round?

stay in the fairways!

^^^ what he said. Pull carts were more trouble than help. Played several early morning rounds with pull cart... last round carried a light bag. Less demanding to carry the bag IMO. Good luck and keep 'em in the fairway.

Take your medicine. Usually a better option to just punch out to a good distance, than try and hit something too hard to the green.

sounds good. Me and a buddy got a earlier tee time via the system the other day. 10:50am vs 1:30pm. So i guess i will carry my bag since it seems pull carts are more trouble than good. I have the Cobra 2009 GT Stand Bag

My driver is a small fade or no movement at all, just hope i hit a good one off the 1st tee so i dont make a fool of my self. last question, are the Rangers strict there? Im a 11 handicap and my buddy is a 10. we both played varsity golf for our high schools and can hold our own. Just don't want any trouble from the Rangers

Rangers are no where to be found on the course. Just have fun + keep pace (which is easy to do because it is a 5 hour round).

Although difficult, I don't think view the black as much of a ball stealer. With almost no water and relatively wide corridors (before you get in the trees), finding he ball in the deep rough is the only problem.

As for strategy, "don't be a hero" is my advice. If you cannot reach the green comfortabley, lay up and go at the green with a wedge.
