So, having some extra funds in my Paypal account, I decided to buy a Players Towel. I had read some other posts here about them so I figured, what the heck.
First off, customer service was first rate. Patrick was super quick with responding via e-mail and even gave me a discount on one of the flags ($5 off). Second, the embroidery is fantastic. The blue just pops against the white background. I am undecided if I'm going to game it. Finally, the towel is super soft. It's almost too pretty.
Unfortunately, the one thing that will keep me from buying another is the price. It is a little steep, $35. Add the $5 that was given as a discount and we're talking $40. In this case, I had money burning a hole in my pocket but I'm not rich enough to buy multiples of these. Also, shipping was $10.50 to ship UPS ground, for a 1 lb box. Again, I wouldn't buy another towel unless the price was a bit cheaper. I don't expect the price to come down any time soon, however.
Overall, it was a good experience. Patrick's responsiveness sealed the deal. Had he been slower to respond, I would have moved on because of the price but the service was great. We're talking less than 1 hour from the first e-mail to the last. If the service stays good, I'm sure he'll have plenty of buyers.

$45.50 for a towel to wipe off dirty golf clubs? Really?
I guess I'm getting old.

I agree, little much for what its needed for. I know I can spend $45 on some good cigars!

That's a really steep price for a towel. I really like the Vokey ones, but at $32 I feel they are overpriced. I play in enough tournaments that give out free towels I've never been able to justify a purchase of one.

I have a grommetting tool and a big box of brass grommets in the garage left over from my boating days so any towel can be a "golf towel". I like the rough surface type dish towels best for clubs. Microfiber is also good. Spending more than a couple three bucks for one seems silly to me.
$5 item + "golf market" = $20 item

That's a great looking towel!
I have to admit, my first thought was, dang that cost alot of money (I added it up to $50.50!) I'll betcha you could take it to your nearest embroiderer and get it replicated for about $10. This way you could have one to use on your sticks, as that one is pretty enough to frame.

Same towels are available from ClubGlove. Difference would be lack of personalization & ClubGlove logo.
I got two of the ClubGloves from GlobalGolf for less than $20 including shipping.
In the future I'd probably just buy no-name microfiber towels (say, 20" by 40") for $5 or so.

Comments are as expected. Price is ridiculous for a towel that is going to get filthy but it was one of those impulse buys to see what the hype was about and while it is cool, it's not realistic. I have a TaylorMade caddy towel that I paid $15 for that's pretty much my limit on price. I guess I'll just hang it on the bag for decoration.

No judgment here. Anyone who spends $400+ on a box of 20 cigars should not throw stones. Enjoy the towel.
(And at least you didn't spend $10K on a putter headcover like someone else around here recently did.)

Are we talking about the PGA Championship 1/1? I was wondering about that.

I have one that has my name on it from the 2009 Bettinardi Social. I've never used it, and I didn't know they cost that much. We had several laughs about the odd hole in the middle of it.

Where can I find a thin white cotton player's size towel- something similar in size and thickness to the Amino Vital and Gatorade towels? I don't want the typical big thick plush towels- not good to clean clubs with. Anyone find these at WalMart, Target, BBB, or better yet, at an online source. Most towels that I see of this size are bulky and thick, like a bath towel. I prefer cotton to the wierd prickly feel of the synthetic towels. It seems like most pro caddies feel the same way.

I recently bought several of these , and I love it. The deal with these is you can't just buy one. It costs extra to get it personalized, so if you just buy one, you get killed on the price. If you like them, you should've bought 4 or 5. The shipping's hardly any more, and the price per towel goes WAY down.
Also, you can't talk about the price of something without talking about its functionality. It's BY FAR the best golf towel I've ever used. It retains water like you wouldn't believe when you soak it, yet it doesn't drip all over the place.

Not to knock these particular towels, but just about any waffle weave microfiber towel will function in the same manner.

No question about that. If the debate's these towels over something generic you can buy at Wal-Mart (i.e. we're basing the decision on function/cost), then Wal-Mart's the way to go.
In terms of cost, I was comparing them to OEM caddie towels. What I should've said was when you compare these to most other nice, OEM caddie towels, they're pretty competitive price-wise, plus they're personalized, plus they're a great towel.

Agreed. I'm sold on the waffle weave microfiber after using the Club Glove towels. But I'd like to find some no-names at a lower price. I could live without the slit.

If you don't mind not having your own personalization on these, you can get one of these at the pro shop at bandon dunes, pacific dunes and bandon trails. They come with the golf course logos at each and cost $28. I bought a bandon dunes and pacific dunes towel. They look great and function great. When you spend $45 for a box of pro-vs, and $220 for greens fees these towels are cheap in comparison and are much better than bath towels.

And when you pay less than $10 for the towel with Club Glove logo rather than the same towel with a golf course logo, $28 seems expensive in comparison and no better than the Club Glove towel.

KD, I think you might have a point here. I haven't priced them in quantity yet, but it stands to reason that if you're in for 1 piece +plus the setup charge, then buying 4 or 5 and amortizing the setup charges might make some sense. You'll have towels for several years then.
edit: Ahh, still pretty expensive. 5 towels with a USA Flag and 2 lines of standard Freestyle script (First and Last name) plus shipping is $135.

I do have to ask though . . . Are reacharounds included with some of your purchases?
