Going on vacation with my wife and my parents in Sept (over labor day weekend) We are staying at the Wyndham Resort in Hancock, Mass. We are planning a day trip to Boston. My father and I would like to play a round at somewhere during our trip. So what is a good course that is not too expensive (sub $100) for us to play on preferably one that is not too difficult as my father has not played in some 15years.

Somewhere around Hancock would be better because we are there longer but if there is great course near Boston we can check it out.

I figure it is a good way for some father son time and my wife can hang out with my mom. WIN WIN

I second the recommendation for the Plymouth area courses, but from Hancock, MA you're looking at 3-3.5 hours of driving (one way). Here are some courses between Boston and Hancock that may be worth checking out:

Kettlebrook Golf Club - Paxton, MA
Shaker Hills - Harvard, MA
The Ledges - South Hadley

You can also view courses by region at MGALinks.org. It will give you a better idea of what is out there and somewhat closers to where you'll be staying.

Thanks for the tips. I am not sure if we will be able to hit Plymouth though those courses do look nice.

Also like I said my dad has not played in years so he will need to rent clubs. Also we will probably only play 9 unless he's having fun LOL

Wow, I didn't even know where Hancock Ma was, I had to google it. Seeing as your going to be way out there, here is a course that is without a doubt one of the best in the state, its called Taconic. Not many of us get to play it , because its such a hike. You should DEFINITELY play here, its a 5 star course and its within your budget. I've never played it , but my brother played a tourney here years ago and says it rivals any good course.

Stow Acres (in Stow, Mass...less than an hour from Boston) is a great 36-hole layout. It's around 50-60 bucks and provides a great challenge.

There is also the Crumpin-Fox in Bernardston (right off of 91N). Great track.

Crumpin Fox is my favorite layout. Routed through the woods and there are only two parallel holes, otherwise you don't see another foursome. 1 hr 40 min from Hancock.

Fairview Farms in Harwinton CT. Nice layout. Nice conditions (Bee a year since I've been there) and easy off the tee. Fairly cheap with a cart. 1 hr 40 min from Hancock.
