My three year old daughter just broke a pretty new 42 inch flat screen while swinging her plastic club in the living room.

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry!
It was basically like that commercial when the kid throws the wei through the tv.

Too bad you didn't get it on tape. You could have made enough money to buy another one.

my 1-1/2 year old got a tee in one of the Walmart club/ball sets I got him. now he knows to tee it up all over the downstairs with this thing. it's a regular thing around here to know you're eventually going to get hit by a plastic golf ball or a plastic club. luckily, he's only thrown balls at the TV...actually he was trying to throw it to his pet dinosaur and overshot him by a couple feet.

While it may cost some money right now, the memories that will stem from this are priceless. Sounds like a good background story to a successful golfer, "So when I was 3 years old, I broke a flat screen television with my plastic club..."

I don't know of too many TV warranties that cover "accidental clubbing."
That stinks though. Sorry it happened!

I also have a 3 year old....and all my tv's are wall mounted because of it. All this means as she has found other things to destroy...such as the living room carpet.

My 3 year old only hits in the back yard into a net, but I want a newer bigger TV, so maybe I should change that.

I would call the manufacturer and tell them your circumstances, you may be surprised. A few years ago, my dog somehow pulled my almost one year old LCD tv off its stand and totally effed up the screen. I called customer service and explained to them what happened. They offered me a little over $500 (it was $3000+ new) but I would have to ship it to them or delivery it to a authorized service center. They said some parts would still be usable. So I called some local TV repair shops and ended up getting $600 for it. Better than nothing. But nowadays with these flat screens getting so cheap, manufacturers and repair shops may not be willing to give you anything for it. Give it a shot, all they can say is no.

When I was single and lived on my own...I would practice my swing in the living room during the cold winter months. It was an old apartment complex and I was always facing the TV (parallel) so the risk was very low of breaking anything of value. I did this so much that I eventually wore the carpet in that one spot down to nothing.
Well, my wife got to see this activity when we were dating and I was forbidden to swing a club indoors when we got married. Her fear was that I would damage something of value.
The irony is that she feared that I would do something that your 3 year just did. I guess we're all kids at heart.

During Winters here I typically swing in the living room just for the hell of it. Chipping and putting done as well of course. I've damaged a few things. Was swinging a sand wedge and the grip was slick and the head of it ended up in bedded in the ceiling. Gone through one carpet similar to what skaffa said...the new ones getting pretty beat up too. One time I was swinging and my mom was on the couch....she went to get up and put her foot down and...well I hit her. She wasn't pleased to say the least but nothing broken which was a big plus:P. And most recently tried to play a flop shot in my living room...it was going away from the fireplace at least but caught it thin and broke a curio cabinet that had perfume bottles in it. Thankfully it was just a pane of glass that broke...couldn't get a replacement piece for it so that was the end of the cabinet but perfume bottles were good. Aside from that just scuffs on the ceiling and nicks out of the couch...its wood so yeah some damage done:P It's amazing my parents haven't kicked me out but we'll see the damage I do in Uni.

My son broke a large kitchen window one time.
Scared the heck out of him. (Probably the sound of his mother screaming)
Its only stuff. Albeit not cheap stuff.

I chip and put in my living room about every day, my 15 month old girl has always watched me, since she has been able to walk she will grab a wedge and scoot a ball around the carpet. Sometimes she'll miss it a few time and than throw her club down and cry (just like daddy)
My wife and I got her a plastic golf set, must remember to keep her away from the flat screen!

LOL - I used to do this when I lived with at my parent's as well. I broke several light bulbs and glass coverings to my fan. You'd think I learn after the first time...but it happen numerous times after that!
Probably smart of my wife to forbide from swinging a golf club in the house!

If you paid with a credit card you may have purchase insurance that will cover it.
Now, if you think kids are destructive try any large breed puppy. I have a Cane Corso/Neopolitan mix who weighs 110 pounds at 8 mounths old. He's chewed window sills, door frames, the bed frame, shredded a bunch of duvets, and sheets. And the best was when he ate a black Bic pen while sitting on a white leather sectional.

What does warranty have to do with it. If the kid broke it, how is that the manufacturers fault?
