Sorry all I accidentally placed this post here unknowingly when I meant to place it in General Golf.

Last year he was a lefty all the way so my wife and I found a set with stand bag for $24. Turns out this year he can swing right handed as well. We think he's stronger from the right side. Either way the only thing that matters is he loves golfing and hitting balls and I love being out there with him.

I'm relatively new to the sport (although older than your son) and did the same thing. I play hockey and bat from the left hand side, so started golfing that way. I went out with my dad a few times, he felt I was better as a righty, so now I am. I couldn't switch back now, although I do still putt LH.

Good luck with your Son.

Wonderful pictures. For you (as well as your son), this is what life is all about. Both of you will cherish these times for the rest of your life. Good Luck to both of you. (Looks like the little guy has a fluid swing.) bye.gif

From experience it's just a marvelous feeling when a child of yours gets excited about your passion. I know the feeling. Enjoy! Thanks for sharing that!

Thanks Guys:

Quite honestly, I think that the best thing that could've ever happened to me, was when my son starting picking up plastic clubs as a toddler (him being born notwithstanding of course). I thought that I had better start golfing. So due to extremely poor health I started to play golf. In hindsight this was the best move I could have ever made.

The times that we get out to the range are just wonderful. "Mini-me" just lights up when he's out at the range or just practicing putting balls in the house. Santa brought him a putting machine this year. He even likes to help clean clubs. I like the fact that he swings fluidly from both sides (he showed this at a young age as well) and whatever side he decides to play from is totally up to him. This year he's going to start playing on some courses after a few more trips to the range and a Junior Clinic.

My 12 year old step-daughter enjoys the game as well and she will also be attending a Junior Clinic. I recently got my wife in the game (actually she finally approached me) and bought her clubs. I unceremoniously got her an instructor. No need to get divorced afterall by having me teach her. Her instructor spent time with Alex after her lesson for about 30 minutes, which was great.

Hit'em Pure,

Alex

That's really great, Alex. My husband and I both play religiously (me more than him) and couldn't see ourselves without it. We both ride motorcycles, but golf is something we can do together -- and with conversation. Ya can't really talk to your spouse through the helmet going round the track at top speed, right? wink.gif

I wish my daughter played; we talked her into playing on a par 3 course with us one day, but she wasn't into it. Tennis is her game and she wants to focus on that. Her goal is to get a tennis scholarship and eventually make it to the pros.

Good luck to you and your son...I'm sure you'll both have a lot of fun. smile.gif

lol...tell me about it, although I think he is well on the way to being addicted. He always asks to hit balls. When the time comes thank god for ebay...ugh! He already wants to be a hockey goalie like dad russian_roulette.gif

Golf_Beauty:

I know exactly what you mean, golf is something that we can do together for a long time to come. I think she'll become addicted to it, she keeps on asking when we can go out again. She had the one lesson thus far and she has been out on a par 3 course, a good start.

I wish both you and your daughter luck as she pursues the goal of a tennis scholarship. Hopefully, she gets it and does well and uses it as a real stepping stone. You may have the next Steffi, Serena or Martina (either one) on your hands. I'd say Anna but...we won't touch that seeing she never had much of a tenis career. I hope her dream comes true.

Thanx alot. I'll have to keep my eyes open up here for them. I've been wondering about junior balls.
mdog91
They have them in Target Stores down here in Fl. If you can't find any let me know, I could pick some up for you.

mdog:

Thanks for the information and of course the offer. I'll have to cross the ditch (Niagara River) into Buffalo and check out the Target there. I'll pm you if I have no luck. Thanks again.
