Hey guys and gals, If you live in the Des Moines area or around Ames I have found the best kept secret golf course in the area.
It is the old Boone Country Club now known as Cedar Pointe Golf Course and it is open to the public. The front nine is an old style nine from the 1930's tree lined, tight fairways and adjaent hole running back and forth. The second nine is only 5 years old and links style with water on 7 of the nine holes. From the blue tees it is 6647 yards long with a course rating of 71.1 slope of 120, par 36-36=72.

Here is the best part. I played today and was only charges $9 for 18 holes with a cart. I found the course to be in great shape with very nice greens. It was well worth the drive from Waukee to play. I can tell you it will not be the last time I play this course. Another thing it was not crowed and I played 18 holes in 3 hours.

I am originally from Boone and lived there for 22 years until I started moving around a couple years ago. I have never played the new holes but played the front nine a while back before the other was built and thought that it was ok but that was many years back. That is a heck of a price for 18 and a cart but I know that they are really hurting out there and thats the reason that they had to go public. That back nine must be a heck of a course to get the rating and slope for it.

I don't know if you have played it but Honey Creek out by the Ledges (just across the highway past the race track) but I think that it is an amazing course and they have all kinds of deals. I think they have early bird on tues and thurs for like $20 including cart. I feel that this is a great new course bring some balls for the back nine and it will take you a little longer but the views and scenery are awesome.

Glad that you made it to Boone and enjoyed your day. Also how did you shoot?

I shoot 38 on the front and 40 on the back. I played Honey Creek a week ago Monday and it too is a nice course espicially the back nine, played for $20 with cart and shot 36 on the front and 39 on the back. I kive in Waukee and the 2 Boone course are now going to become my favorite to play. it only takes about 40 min to drive there from Waukee. Well worth both the time and money.

Very nice scores! I think I'm going to try to get some guys together to play Cedar Pointe next time I go back to see what its like now. I just looked at it says $26 for 18/w cart, can I ask how you got the $9 deal I am very interested.

I just drove up today with out a tee time. Asked if they could get a single out for 18. He said his 8:30 group teed off at 8 and I could have thier time. He said that will be $9. I replied that I wanted to ride and he said that right $9 please. So I paid my $9 and off I went.
