I was at local Golfsmith last night looking at push carts. I already have an older model Sun Mountain, but I hate the inflatable tires that I have to repump often. I won a tourney and some gift certificate money, so I am going to give a friend my older SM cart and get a newer one. I was looking at the new SM V1 carts and they all have the hard foam tires on them (awesome). But then a sales guy came up and asked me if I needed anything. I asked him about the new model of cart and also asked about the Clic-gear cart. He said that Clic-gear sells better and that the Sun Mountain V1 was a problem because the tires were going to have to be replaced as courses are going to ban them because they leave ruts!

Has anyone heard about this? I actually prefer the setup of the Sun Mountain better, but wasn't sure about the wheels issue.

Was he just trying to sell me the Clic-gear? Why would he do that when I saw that they had only 2 Clic-gears, but 20 Sun Mountain V1's.

Just thought I would throw it out there to you experts..... help.gif

I love my Clicgear, but I think he doesn't know what he is talking about.

The majority of the weight of these carts is the bag and all the crap you load it up with- therefore I'm thinking the Clicgear and Sun Mountain are similar weights fully loaded- and I think you have to have a significantly muddy course for that to be an issue- I mean muddy to the point where the course is unplayable.

I could be wrong, but I've never seen that problem. My in-laws both use Sun Mountain carts and have no problem on wet courses with leaving ruts (unless you take the cart in or near casual water, which you probably shouldn't be doing anyway- but any cart would have that problem, not just the Sun Mountain).

And I can virtually assure you that there is not a national movement to ban Sun Mountain carts on golf courses- which is how he's making it sound.

My club treats push carts and riding carts the same(ir you need to keep so far away from the green, etc.) I'm not sure why, since the push cart does nowhere near the damage of the riding cart...

Well...this is the 1st that I heard of that. The tires on the new carts are the exact same dimenions and specs as the inflatable ones, just foam. We just had our Sun Mountain rep in here and he has never heard anything about it.

On a personal note. They were probably just trying to move one of the last couple Clic Gear carts. The only carts we sell are Sun Mountain...and we have sold probably around 50 or 60 of them this year...not one customer has mentioned this @ all.
