Buying Junior Clubs

In the past few weeks several customers have asked for our opinions about buying Junior's equipment including, do we think it's necessary? While there are no one-size-fits all answer for everyone, there are a few basic guidelines.
  1. Skip the hand-me down adult clubs with cut-down shafts. While this can certainly be cost effective, it simply makes the game harder for your youngster to learn.
  2. The best way to size is by height. When buying age specific sets, check shaft lengths and compare that to how tall your child is relative to his peers.
  3. Putting is a great because there's instant gratification. There's no replacement long-term for having a great feel for getting the ball in the hole.
  4. Buy age appropriate goods - which means you need to buy clubs for "this season." Don't expect kids to grow into their clubs.
  5. Less is more. A junior player rarely needs a full set of 14 clubs. Up until kindergarten age, a set of four clubs will suffice. After that, add clubs selectively as different skills are mastered.
For more information, check our this Junior Clubs Buying Guide on the Golfgods.com website. Also, here are a couple of our recommended sets: Accu-Length 500 Series and La Jolla Junior Set.

This show was recorded with Audio Hijack Pro over a Skype connection. We then used Soundtrack Pro to edit the show and GarageBand to produce the AAC file from the AIFF file, to add the artwork, and so forth. Feeder was used to create the XML file.

Note: This is an AAC (MP4) file, an open file format. iTunes - free software - can play AAC files, as can numerous other players, though we heartily recommend iTunes.
