Nicklaus, in his book, "My Story," says it's Firestone's 16th, "The Monster," which is, what, 650 yards now? He's talking about going for it in two due to the lake in front. I watched much of the tournament yesterday and was flabbergasted as to how many were able to get there in two. It must not have been playing 650 yesterday, else, they would have had to hit 400 yard drives. Anyway, I didn't see any balls in the water. But maybe it was easy pin position

EDIT: My bad. He was talking about "The Monster" at Firestone and I was thinking "The Monster" at Hazeltine. I guess there are two with the same nickname. Thus, this post doesn't make much sense. Anyway, I am still surprised players could reach the long par five in two at Hazeltine.

Nah. 17 at Sawgrass. With tournament pressure (especially under the gun Sunday) it has to be tough to take the club back.

Wasn't it at Valderama where they had the Ryder Cup and there was a Par 5 that it was almost impossible to get the ball to stay on the green? I remember them hitting ball after ball that spun back in the water off the false front, and a few that putted it a few feet past downhill and into the water.

18 at PGA National is a real PITA. Even w/ a wedge.

All that's missing on that hole is the windmill.
