I am going to be in mesquite/ vegas area for 3 days of golf

We are teeing off wolf creek friday at 6am...$65 special, awesome deal

Dont want to spend a ton at courses like shadow creek and cascata

I was thinking Paiute, but i have golfed there already..wanted to try a new track..any suggestions

Has anyone played Royal Links? TPC? I was even thinking of trying a St George course
dirtyboy
St George has some great golf and may be a little cooler, should be cheaper.

What he said! When I played it two years ago the rough was brutally long and thick. The course is also surrounded by wildlife preserve or something and anything OB you can't get even if it is only 10 feet outside the ropes. Take a video camera with you as some of the views are spectacular. Also expect a long round, but with you teeing off early it may not be as big an issue. We played at 2pm in March and the round was 5 hours and 45 minutes and that was with the marshalls pushing the pace.

Good luck and have fun.

Rio Secco is the bomb.

Wolf Creek is amazing place. Hope the wind does not blow.

If you get up to St George play Sand Hollow. It is an outstanding track and is just a few miles north of SG. It will be cheaper up in St George than it will be in Vegas.

No question. Play The Chase at Coyote Springs. A Jack Nicklaus signature course about 30 mins closer to Vegas than Wolf Creek. Some of the best greens I have played.

Thank you guys for all the feedback...i will take a look at those course suggestions

I excited, im trying to get really early tee times to stay out of the wind

Thats some crazy input about Wolf Creek...thanks guys!!

How much is that Coyote Springs course?

I've played the Royal Links and The TPC's in Vegas. The Royal Links is a good track, you get a caddie for the round who will steer you clear of the hidden bunkers, I liked the course. The TPC Vegas was in awesome shape when I played there last year, it is a desert course but has wide landing areas and plays fair. There are some good risk reward holes on the course. The TPC Canyons is also a nice track and has always been in good shape when I have played it. Both TPC's have a history of the tour playing there. A buddy of mine in Vegas said the Bears Best is in good shape right now and is worth playing.

You must be a low single digit handicap! good.gif Just kidding. I've played there around 7 or 8 times and find it just as good each time. If you play from the back tees, it can make for a long day, but the views are spectacular! I think my low ball count day was one or two and I'm an 8 hdcp. Easiest way to lose balls is to try to cut off too much on 2, hit it long or right on 3, try to drive the green on 4, not carry the creek on 5, hit driver on 6 into the creek, hit driver on 7 and come up short, hit it just a little left, long or right on the par 3 8th.......you getting the drift yet?

Have fun, it's an awsome course and I look forward to going back again some day! Make sure you take a camera and some oxygen for anyone in your group over 60. lol The steps to some of the tee boxes are a b****! They actually had to air lift a guy having a heart attack on #3 tee box a few years back. There is absolutly no way to get an ambulance there.

Im no way a low handicap but I played the correct set of tees for my ability. Im not crazy enough to play from the Tip tees but I did tee them up on a few holes just for kicks

There is no way to get to the 2nd tee either. They have an area on the top near the tee box to store the tee mower. There is no chance of getting anything up there.

I think Sand Hollow in St George is like $50 . . . well worth it. Really fun.

Forgot about the fake boulder that stores the mower! biggrin.gif I also freaked out the first time there as in early March all of the ground cover going up along both sides of the steps on 2 & 3 are in bloom and there were thousands of bees having a hay day. Very weird sound.
Oh, oh, oh, I forgot to tell you, when you get to 13 tee, you will think that you have to lay up with about a 5w or long iron as it's a 90* dog leg right and the green is tucked back in a big canyon. You can drive the green if you hit it around 250 or so if you take it right over the V in the BIG rock on top of the mountain on your right. Does not look like you can carry it, but I've done it a number of times and I'm not a real long hitter. May not be the smartest play, but at least try one after you've all hit your drives.

Don't tell the other guys in your group about this ahead of time and just rip one over the rock and watch their faces. Priceless!

I just got back from a weeklong trip to Vegas and Mesquite. Royal Links is a great course but the conditions weren't the greatest. I would wholeheartedly recommend Sand Hollow as two others did previously. For $50, it is so worth it. Next year when I go back, I plan on playing that at least twice. The conditions and the views are unparalleled.

We also played the Oasis Canyon course and it was great, especially for $30.
