For those of you who own a golf umbrella, what size is it?

Perhaps, perhaps not.

I have the

Callaway 68" TOUR AUTHENTIC UMBRELLA

http

And I'm a little dissapointed about how much the wind gets hold of it, despite the "storm safe" construction. Otherwise it's fine!

I've also had the Ping 68 inch
http://www.ping.com/gear/oncoursedetail.aspx?id=1886

and that might have been better in the wind, though the Ping handle is not as good, to soft.

Honestly, many of the umbrellas seem to be made in the same factory, with different handle and textiles. But as I said the Ping one seemed to be made to handle the wind a little bit better.

The big umbrella really comes into it's own when you combine it with a golf trolley that has a umbrella holder. Please tell me what you yourself finds out!

One strange thing is that my Callaway ubrella seem to lack the circular cutouts seen in this picture, though the ubrella looks exactly like that:

Perhaps the cutouts help the wind handling...

and as I wrote in a PM to bankergolfer:

I guess the ubrellas could be all the same, I never got to use the Ping at the golf course since I returned it due to carbon fibres sticking out. And I got the Callaway instead. But there wasn't any difference in construction or quality, I just stood at the shop and went through 5 umbrellas and took the one where looking best. Where they seem to fail in quality is when they stance or pierce through the carbon fibre rod to make holes for the locking mechanism, some of the ubrellas were nice, but some had just terrible holes with many carbon fibres sticking out, and those hurt when you get them in your fingers!

I hope that my callaway ubrella will handle the wind better when it gets worn, now the fabric is so hard strung on the frame that the wind doesn't seem to slip trough as good as you want it to.

The Ping handle is larger than the Callaway. For my cart Big Max they make two ubrella holders, normal and large. I bought the large for the ping but the normal for the Cal.. The callaway is really thin, but good. It's like a golf grip but only a little thinner. I think it will fit within 4 cm.

I don't regret it. When the rain is coming down at an angle, the sheer size of the umbrella works to keep the rain off of me. I inevitably use it off the course as well, and it works well to cover me, the wife, and the 2 year old.

I got to admit, I don't even know the size of my umbrella. I very rarely use it, if its raining, I am wearing goretex hat, jacket and pants.

I play in the rain a few times a year and I have a smaller-sized Titleist umbrella that fits in my bag.

It's always been perfectly fine.

62" gustbuster! love it

I bought a Gustbuster Footjoy 68" and used it a few times. I have the umbrella attachment for my cart and that makes it manageable. The bigger umbrella helps keep all the clubs dry. It is BIG and have not used it yet in much wind - might carry me off like Mary Poppins.

I have this 62" Adams umbrella.

Have yet to use since I just bought it a couple of months ago. Seems like it will work fine though. One of the local GG must have miss-priced it because I got it for $19. yahoo.gif

Just an update: I ended up getting a 68" FootJoy umbrella made by Gustbuster (with the authentic tear drop ducts). It's smaller than I thought, but works great.

Sometimes I think my 60" is too large.....

I have the 68" TM R7 umbrella. As far as the canopy, I don't feel it's too big. However, I just got a ClicGear pushcart, and unfortunately the umbrella handle doesn't fit all the way down into the umbrella holder tube. It goes in far enough that it doesn't fall out, and I don't want to spend the $$ on a new umbrella since I don't use it very often.
