Anyone know of any websites that have royalty free high resolution photos and/or desktop backgrounds of PGA Tour golf courses or PGA Tour photos?

I am pretty sure you can find a good one off of google images.

Yeah, I've looked on Google images quite a bit and there aren't that any out there unfortunately.

I have a cooler idea for you. Take some pictures of courses where you play or perhaps a nearby tour stop and then you can do some pretty amazing things to them on picasa or windows photo gallery. I can send you some of my home course. It might be the most naturally beautifull non ocean/non mountain course I have ever seen.

I have some high res pics of Augusta National and Bethpage Black if you are interested. Go to my Webshots page and I can email you the high res pics.

What do you plan to do with the photos?

It's very unlikely that you'll find a royalty free photo of either. Possibly one of the courses - but even then, you would probably have to know it by sight as the royalty free companies often do not label the exact location where a photo was taken.

Definitely not of the players. It's just like most other pro sports - any image of one of their tourneys is the property of the PGA. Shutter clicks aren't the only reason cameras are banned at the events.

If you're planning to use the images for resale, you would likely need to contact either the courses in question, or for the tournament shots, contact the PGA/USGA and talk to their marketing/licensing department.

If you are using the photos for a newspaper article or for a magazine, Getty Images is the biggest reseller of rights managed events photography, but even then, you are restricted to only editorial use.

If you just want nice prints for your house or whatever you can probably find them for sale from a sports memorabilia site much cheaper that buying stock photography. Or from a member here who has been to the locations and has photography available. If you're printing them for your personal enjoyment, it's highly unlikely you'll have any issue.

One place you may find photos is iStockPhoto.com. We do not use photos from this source since their rights clearance is dubious at best. We can't expose out clients to the liability of using an improperly/illegally cleared image.

I stumbled onto this site a couple of weeks ago...it has photos taken at PGA tour stops by caddies. Enjoy!
