Hey guys, im going to Chicago and wanted to see if you knew any good courses to play.

Also Im 15 so cost kind of matters a bit since I pay myself. It is the week of my birthday so anyone know any courses that offer free rounds on your birthday?
Southside Striker
join sportsmans country clubs birthday club and you get a free round. It is in Northbrook. Deerfield golf course also has a free birthday round but the course is much lousier

Where in Chicago? It's a huge place, and at 15, I'm guessing you won't have a rental car wink.gif

Yeah, let us know where. There are allot nice courses in the Chicago and metro area. I like Harbor side, because it's like your playing at St. Andrews, links style and very windy. If you have the money, Dubs Dread at Cog Hill in Lemont. It's more towards the southwest suburbs though, about 40 or so minutes from the city.

Oops, just notice that you're on a budget. Well, I guess you would get a better discount playing twilight.

We will be at the magnificent mile. Yeah cog hill would be nice but i think dubsdread may be too much. But I will check into the other one you suggested!

There aren't many "good" courses under $75 around here.

You might be able to find some '2 for 1' deals though...especially on weekdays.

Here's a comprehensive guide:

Harborside International in the Chicago area.

Lemont area, Cog hill, but if you do go there, I would front the money for Dubs Dread (Course #4). Way pricey and I've heard that after the redesign, it's gotten allot better. Course #2 is also a great course. Course #1 & #3 are alright.

Also in the same area are Ruffled Feathers and also Big Run. Big Run is a tight, long course. Old Oak is also another nearby course. All 4 courses are about 10 minutes away from each other. There's a Red Roof Inn at, I think, Willowbrook, which is just off of I-55 expressway. All 4 courses are about 15 minutes away from the hotel.

Will you be bringing your clubs or renting?

We are actually driving since we live just 4 hours away and im bringing my own clubs.

Im looking in to all of the courses mentioned. I will see if I can find a good course with a good deal.

I don't know about free rounds or discounts on your birthday.

Best public values around Chicago (imo): Big Run, Ravisloe, George Dunne, Pine Meadow, Stonewall Orchard, Cog Hill #2 (Ravines), Lost Marsh.

Easiest public courses to get to from Mag Mile: Jackson Park, Harborside, Wilmette, Winnetka, Sportsman's, Glencoe, Lost Marsh.

Where are you playing?  I don't think I've ever spent $75+/person around Chicago, and have played plenty of 'good' ( or better ) courses.  Some of them top out over $75 before noon on weekends, but in the afternoon or during the week you will be paying a lot less.

Cog Hill #2 tops out at $73 to ride, but is only $30 to walk after 3pm.  #1 and #3 are easier and cheaper, but still nice courses. Oak Meadows tops out at $56 to ride and is a fine classic track despite now being owned by the Forest Preserve District.   Ravisloe is $65 to ride during the week and has even more reasonable twilight rates.  Gleneagles is never more than $50 something to ride.  Prairie Landing is $67 from 12-3 and $47 after.  Orchard Valley ( admittedly a hike from downtown ) is just $49.  Seven Bridges has many sub $75 rates.  Tamarack can be played for $30-odd bucks with a cart, if you book online.

I've played all of those save Ravisloe, and I'm too cheap to spend $75 a round.

Also Sydney Marovitz, along the lake.  If you're driving, you can just as easily come out 290 to Fresh Meadow, Meadowlark, Willow Crest, Oak Meadows, Maple Meadows and a host of other courses in the near-west suburbs.

you can get to ravisloe from 150 N michigan train station, (randolph street) by taking a 30-40 minute air conditioned train ride. the course entrance is literally across the street from the train station in Homewood. Great course, and when the wind blows, it can get really interesting.

Birthday Club at Gleneagles... not sure what the discounts are, though.
