Okay well I am excited and nervous at the same time. I just took up golf about 4 months ago. I was terrible. I am still pretty awful but I am having fun at least. I have only played a real course two times. Nine holes each. I normally play about 1-2 times a week but on a par three 9 hole course. I normally shoot a 38-42 with a low game of 33. Okay well a offer to play harbor town for free came up for me today. What should I expect? I mean this is a really nice course. Are newbies like me frowned upon at a establishment like Harbor Town? Do you really have to get a caddy? I would rather not have someone watching me over like that. LOL should I even go??

It's free -- go for it. If you don't worry about your score it'll be a good experience. And the caddy will be a help.
I just played HT a week ago - course is in great condition. It often gets beat up by July but not this year.

Harbour Town is a public resort course so you'll get a more laid-back feel around the grounds and clubhouse than you might expect from a PGA tournament course. You'll see lot's of people just visiting the pro shop or having lunch on the terrace that are tourists and not playing the course. You don't have to take a caddie but if you do don't worry about it they're used to working with people of all handicaps and are there to make your round more enjoyable. The course isn't long by modern PGA tournament standards and the greens are small with only slight contours which make 3 putts almost a non-issue. I say go for it and enjoy the day. It's a beautiful place and HT has the finest 3 finishing holes in golf. It will be an experience you remember for a long time and each April when you watch the tournament on TV you'll have a great point of reference since you've walked those same fairways.

Okay well today was interesting to say the least. I had the worst time swinging the sticks today.... I played terrible. Pretty much double par and I almost hit a house.... Kinda a let down. The good news is we only played through 9 before it started to rain. We received rainchecks to play 18 again tomorrow. LOL my golf game gets no worse than it did today so it can only get better tomorrow. The two guys that invited me where much much better but were very patient with me which makes it no so bad. Very HARD course though. Like I mentioned before this is only the 2nd time Ive played a full course. Cant wait for tomorrow. If my game is the same as it was today I will kick myself...And possibly donate my clubs!!
