I've been looking for a new carry bag since my old one's legs are pretty well shot. Everything else on the bag is fine, but the legs are pretty bent up and don't seem to deploy properly anymore. I'm interested in the Ogio Ozone, which seems like it will do everything I want it to do and be plenty light for walking. Does anyone have any feedback on this particular bag? It seems there's a lot of love for the Nexos, Edge, and Grom, but I don't see much about this bag. Help?

Thanks.

I got the Ozone this year to replace my old Grom. I was looking for something a little lighter than the Grom and the Ozone fit the bill. It isn't a small bag but it is pretty light for the size which is why I chose it. The Woode top is the same as my old Grom and I have always like the way it separates the clubs. Where they placed the valuables compartment is better especially since the design allows you can get to it easier when the bag is standing. They also put the cell phone carrier in there now instead of down lower in the large compartment. Which was a little bit of a pain.

I do have a couple of complaints. The first is that the "large" pocket where I would carry heavier clothing in the early spring or fall is much smaller than my Grom. I have to choose carefully what I am going to wear so I don't have to tie jackets to the outside of my bag.

The color selection is kind of weak. My wife ordered the greyhound color online for my birthday and when I opened it I hated it, even my wife thought it was very "girlie". I ended up sending it back for the black/white pinstripe, very cool color combo.

The legs on my Grom always had a problem of not fitting tight to the bag when it was being carried. They fixed that problem with the new Arc Lite system but now I feel it has the opposite problem of not opening far enough. It's not a huge deal since it doesn't seem to tip over anymore than my previous bag, but it just seems unstable a lot of the time.

The final complaint I have is with the strap material. The strap design is extremely comfortable since it is well padded and has a cut out that allows it to ride higher on the shoulders and closer to the neck. I find this a tremendous improvement over every other carry bag that I have owned. However, Ogio decided to design the strap with a black nylon and white vinyl. This makes it look very cool but unfortunately, not only does the white vinyl get dirty but it ripped after only a couple of weeks of use. I contacted Ogio and they were very prompt at sending a replacement strap. Unfortunately the replacement was an old style solid black strap not at all like the one on my brand new bag.

Overall I am very happy with this bag and would probably buy it again. If you don't play in colder weather the large pocket won't be a problem and I think this bag is a good compromise for size and weight.

I hope this helps.

Wow! great information man. I too was looking for a new bag and am torn between the grom and ozone. I ride much more than I walk but practice at the range quite a bit as well so I do need a stand bag.

Would you say the main difference between the two is only storage/pockets?

I just got the new Ozone as well and find that it does most everything i want it to very well. It is very easy to carry and has plenty of pockets. The legs work great with the ArcLite system, sometimes they don't extend 100% but the bag i still very stable. The best surprise/feature of the bag for me, since i am a walker, is the handle on top of the Woode thing. It's perfectly placed to remove the bag off your shoulders with out reaching around to pull the straps off.

My only complaint with the bag is that even with the Woode top clubs can get hung up a little bit. I tweaked the placement of my clubs and they go down/up easier but 1/10 pulls i'll get a slight resistence on the clubs.

But for those who ride more than they walk get the Grom, its definitely tailored toward that player. Where i would say the Ozone is for the walker who rides everyone once in awhile.

Ogio has lighter bags with less features for strict walkers, but i felt the Ozone was the best compromise between light weight and pockets/features. Also i believe the Ozone is the lightest bag with the new ArcLite leg system which, like was said earlier, the legs were a problem on previous designs.

I did not compare the current Grom to the Ozone except for weight so I can't answer this question. If I am comparing it to my old Grom the main differences are the storage/pockets and the leg system.

I agree with Richie that the ArcLite system is overall better than the previous system. Also the handle that he describes is great and if I had used it more I probably wouldn't have ripped my strap.

I'm kind of torn which is a better cart (riding not pulling) bag. Since if you are in a cart you don't need large pockets because you can just throw stuff in the back of the cart. There is the weight difference, which isn't huge, but every pound counts on a hilly course in the middle of summer.

Great! Thanks for all the information, guys. I looked at the Grom too, but it seemed like the added features on the bag weren't worth the additional 2 pounds. I will definitely take a look at the straps, though, to make sure they will work for me. My only real complaint with my current bag is the water bottle pocket, which is too small to fit a 32 oz. bottle, which I carry when I walk. The straps on my current bag also start to feel underpadded around hole 13.

Keep the reviews coming.

I'm looking at the Ozone also but can't decide between it and the Grom due to the torque strap on the latter.

I bought the Titleist (Sun Mountain) x86 last year and feel like I wasted my money because the leg activator extends too far from the bottom circumference of the bag and it won't fit in a cart unless I turn it sideways.....*deal breaker.*

Two questions:

1. Will the Ozone fit in a cart correctly without having to turn it sideways?

2. Will the Ozone ride in a cart without rotating while riding or should I get the Grom because the torque strap prevents this?

I prefer the Ozone. I walk most of the time but it really bugs me when I put a bag in a cart and it won't fit or ride well.

Thanks in advance.

I appreciate the threadjack bringing this back onto the page. I just got back from Dicks, which has both the Grom and the Ozone, and now I am really torn.

Here are my thoughts:
I thought the extra pound and a half would be a big deal, and it does seem like the Grom weighs a good bit more empty, but the straps and pockets on the Grom seem a lot nicer than on the Ozone. The material on the Grom seems a good bit more durable, and the scorecard pocket has a magnetic closure and a nicer pencil and water bottle holder (insulated) than the Ozone. I don't think I'm a fan of the zipperless ball pocket, though.

The Ozone is LIGHT. It has the nice cell phone pocket, a place for everything, and a more easily accessible water bottle holder (not insulated). The pockets are plenty big for the stuff I carry, and the ball and tee pockets are separate, which is a HUGE plus in my book. The only real downside I see is that the strap system and hip pad are not quite as nice, and the fabric seems a bit flimsier than on the Grom. However, it looks as durable as you can get in a 4 lb. bag.

This is about all I've got. Please, help me decide! I walk when I play by myself (60% of the time) and ride when I play with the family. I vastly prefer walking, so the light weight appeals, but with a good strap system, I'm not sure the extra 1 1/2 lbs. will make that big of a dent.

Thanks for the help!

I'm also facing a similar dilemma, I like the looks and design of the ozone but not sure if I'm crazy about the club management, does anyone have good pics of the ozone with clubs in it?
