http://blogs.golf.com/golf-truth-rumors/20...eir-review.htmlit's a safe bet it was someone from this site

.... Who would call in
against Weir in the Canadian open man!
on a serious note, maybe it's been discussed before. But does anyone think these armchair officials should just leave it to the
actual officials?

I think it's horrible that people can phone in if they think they see something.

Ridiculous. The call was made, the tourney is over. This has GOT to stop!

Why does the PGA even take phone calls? They should just say, "yeah...uh huh...got it" and hang up. And who knows this number??!!!

Who do you call and where do you get the number? Whomever does that should have the balls beaten off them.

I can't believe they even take those calls. How do you even know who to call? How does that conversation go? "Um...this is Bill in Peoria. Is Mr. Finchem there? I have an HDTV and a 1995 copy of the Rules of Golf. I know he would want to take my call. I think Tiger's ball crossed the hazzard 4 inches behind where he took his drop. Put me through to Mr. Finchem NOW!"

I hate people calling in. Sit on the couch, drink your beer, watch golf, and don't pick up your phone. There are these people called rules officials at the tournament. Let them do their job.
Why don't these same people call the NBA/David Stern every time an NBA players walks?!?!?

They probably call the tournament host site and ask to speak to a rules official, blah blah.
These d-bags should just be hung up on, they have yet to prove any good or useful to any tournament. Rules officials were called in by Weir the minute it happened, it's not like he tried to avoid the situation like it never happened.
Shame on the PGA Tour for even making it a second review.

Now that is funny......but at the same time probably a true conversation on the phone from the caller

Everyone inside the ropes is responsible to protect the field and the integrity of the game. Everyone outside the ropes is a spectator, and should remain a spectator.

I completely agree. As a journalist, it is his job to cover the tournament, not become part of the story.

Obviously I missed part of the story, but I thought Weir was immediately concerned when he saw the ball move that he had soled his club. He called the rules official over, who discussed it with him and they agreed that he would play on and review the film later. After video review, I thought no penalty was assessed (even though I truly thought he had soled his club).
With that background, what was a viewer at home able to see that the rules official did not?
