Where is the Buick Open going next year? Will it stay in Grand Blanc, Michigan with a new sponsor?
Ebu Gogo
Kohler, WI?
jerry1967
Where did you get that idea?

Are you asking for guesses? Because nobody knows.

Kohler, WI?

This has actually been circulated as a possible new venue for the Milwaukee tour stop. They are trying to get the date moved away from being opposite the British Open.

I heard it from my Dad when I was in town. Mr. Kohler being a golf nut might be interested in "marketing" his other courses if they can somehow get the finances / sponsor. Not sure if Kohler is financially strong enough to support a tournament by itself, but if it could find some others to piggy back on, there was talk Stricker / Kelly would "somehow assist" - what better way to advertise some tremendous courses though.

Didn't they say they would make a statement sometime in early August?

Yes they said it would be announced the Monday after the Buick Open.

Kohler has said many times he doesn't want to "devalue" his courses by having them host a regular tour stop. They are supposed to be major championship courses, not tour courses. He's gotten a very big head since the PGA Championship and has no interest in a run of the mill event anymore. Straits gets the PGA and Ryder Cup, Blackwolf gets the Women's Open, that's enough for him

Kelly and Stricker's idea was to convert the US Bank into essentially the Greater Wisconsin Open, where you would rotate through Milwaukee one year, Madison one year, Green Bay one year etc. Even if they get a sponsor, that sort of even won't happen for awhile, becuase the Tour signed a contract with Milwaukee County a few years ago to host the event at Brown Deer until 2013.

If Herb gets a hold of this or the Milwaukee stop, he could set up a "Kohler Rota" of courses with the Blackwolf Run courses and the Whistling Straits courses.

Does anybody give a crap about Buick anyway? Does anybody even drive a Buick? What the hell is a Buick?

He could, but he doesn't want to. He wants majors, whether they are mens or womens, not regular tour events.

Tiger should just sponsor it himself and just call it the Tiger Open.

I wish I could say that it was going to stay at Warwick, but according to some members in high places and the club rumors there's no sponsor in sight for the tourney and there will be NO PGA event at Warwick Hills next year.
THE ARS
Looks like The Greenbrier wants it.

Some pics of the course, looks interesting. MacDonald and Raynor circa 1914.
