Me and group of my buddys are going to play Dove Mountain at the end of the month. We are thinking of playing there and Ventana Canyon. Any other good courses you think we should check out. Let me know.

Also, we will be playing 4 rounds while out there and I was thinking of setting up a four round tournament for our group. I need to give them handicaps which is going to be tough since they do not play thay often. Hopefully you guys can help. Here is there averages which is a wide range:

Golfer 1: Shoots in the 90's on a good day and most likely averages around 100.
Golfer 2: Can shoot a 90 on a good day and 108 on a bad day.
Golfer 3: Shoots in the mid 80's on a good day and in the 90's average.

Hopefully you guys can help. Thanks alot. Have a good one.

Will you be playing the Gallery GC or the Ritz-Carlton? (both have "at Dove Mountain" in their name)

*edit* I see there is a Heritage Highlands at Dove Mountain as well!!

I have not played either but will be visiting the Ritz-Carlton next Friday. Looking forward to it.

Ventana might be a tough test for your higher HC. Just use the "desert rule" (played like a lateral water hazard).

The other course that gets a lot of mentions is the Golf Club at Vistoso.

There are some Tucsonians on the forum, hopefully they will ring in.

As for handicapping the unhandicapped: if they will compete with someone who does have a handicap, then you want to be careful not to just take an average - that's not fair to those with a legit index. The Pope of Slope says a study has shown that a person's SECOND BEST score (par 70 or greater course) from the last year should approximate their handicap.

Enjoy!
