Trying out Hibore XLS tour version against my TM R7 Superquad which is stock from the shop.

Nearly identical shafts and specs 65g, torque 3, kick Mid, tip stiff which is the same as the TM, also XLS shaft is made by Fujikura and the R7 is co engineered by Fujikura.

Why is there a 80 yard loss with the XLS? Swing speed with both is around 115mph mark

For a short answer: the XLS Tour is a very low spin head. R7 Superquad is definitely NOT a low spin head at all.

Maybe you need the spin the Superquad delivers to keep your ball airborne.

Also, have you had the shafts frequency tested? The printing on the shafts is only a guide to the shaft's makeup--they could be night and day different in actuality.

Agree.

I'll add that the XLS Tour is 1 or 2* open versus the Superquad being 1* Closed. So the effective loft of the XLS is going to be around 8.5 versus 10.5 for the Superquad.

And like the previous poster mentioned, the XLS is lowwww spin and the Superquad is mid to high spin.

Not sure this would make for an 80 yard loss but those are two very different drivers.

just on a side note, have u tried a different (higher spinning) golf ball with the XLS to try and gain some more distance?

Took them both to the range today, i think with my earlier problem of a strong left hand grip and weak right hand, i was delofting the club, hit some nice drives with it today which carried similar if not a few yards more then the TM, less of a draw and more roll!

Will take it on the course friday and have a practice with some quality balls smile.gif
