All of us who play competitive golf understands the values it gives you in life, on and off the course. Why does Tiger Woods continue to let himself down?. Like i said in a previous post throwing clubs after a bad shot is simply not acceptable. It just seems at the moment Tiger has something much worse that just a bad swing and that is a bad attitude. I know this has been brought up on many a post before me but to absolutley ignore anyone and everyone who gives you support is not on. Tiger is responsible for taking golf to where it is now but he must understand also that without us he would'nt be where he is now.

Tiger is, at the moment one of golfs great players. A "legend" as in Nicklaus, Watson, Player, etc he most certainly is not. Yes Tiger will win more majors than anyone else but to be a "legend" you need so much more than trophys. Tiger may be a "god" to a few people on golf wrx and i am starting to think that he believes this himself.

The simple truth is that golfers have now caught up with Tiger. He is no longer the longest off the tee, the most accurate in to greens and his short game is not what it used to be. Tiger does NOT have a plan b when the going gets tough. The legends of golf ALWAYS had a plan b, always a way to get round and make that cut.

Tiger is in real danger of losing his game and the support of real golf enthusiasts who watch his every round to see if he really is the greatest or just a one trick pony who only wins when he holds a lead in no weather "target" golf conditions.

I urge anyone who reads this to watch the "duel in the sun" at turnberry in 1977. Just watch how Jack and Tom hit an inferior golf ball with a TINY head driver held together by woodscrews 260-300 yards down the middle every time!. Fairways as dry as a bone and dust all of the place kicked up by people trying to see greatness as it happened.

And then watch Tiger slash a super sonic Nike ball 50 yards to the left or right in to the hay with a driver designed with more computing power than it took to put Armstrong on the moon. This is my real problem with Tiger it is just UNBELIEVABLE that he could not find a way round Turnberry and make the cut. No "go to" shots, no fight and for the first time i have ever seen a look on his face of fear of the golf course.

Throwing clubs is disrespectfull to your playing partners and the golf course. Spitting constantly is disgusting but unfortunatly a common sight in todays society. Tiger really should take a look at himself as i feel at the age of 33 this a crossroads for him. Get your swing and your attitude sorted out Tiger and dont bite off the hand that feeds you.

Good grief ... you couldn't have posted this in one of the other dozen or so Tiger-bashing threads already running here this week?

Again? Really?

This is so original. Nobody on this site has posted anything remotely like this. We are truly breaking new ground now.

this week certainly has set the bar pretty high for anti Tiger sentiment. There was like 5-6 active ones on the first page a couple of days ago

I forgive Tiger his shortcomings with no hesitation.

I find many of the golf "greats" to be dry and very boring.

I consider Tiger to be a gentleman.

You disagree, that's what makes the world go around.

If everyone agreed on everything, Tiger would have never been allowed to play at Augusta. Is this not so?

Tiger already is a legend.

My exact thought when I saw this title.

Thats fair enough comments guys. I was expecting that. I know what i said was nothing new. I only see Tiger play once a year here in the U.K. and i dont put much posts up on WRX. Maybe i expect to much from the man, i dont know. But politeness and good manners i expect from everyone not just Tiger Woods. When golf gets in to the olympics and whether you or i think that is good or not Tiger will be the main reason that has happened. And for that much respect is due.

Tiger has missed two cuts in majors since he turned pro and also holds the record for most consecutive cuts made. Jack missed 3 cuts in majors in the first 10 years of his career. So your argument that Tiger is the only great player who doesn't have go to shots to make sure he makes cuts is just absurd and makes you sound like a hater.
TuffKukae
geez... I'm not even a Tiger fan and I'm tired of the Tiger hate threads! Enough is Enough, get over him already. rolleyes.gif
boysel21
Doesn't have a plan b???? Are you kidding me. Go ask some of the other players out on tour what they think about that. What a joke! He only made over 150 straight cuts at one point.

I agree about the attitude at times. But he is more high profile and everything he does is shown on tv. Many other players do the same things he does except it doesn't get posted on blog after friggin blog.

Give it up already.

You've opened Tiger complaining threads on consecutive days. We get it. You don't like the guy.

I look forward to your next thread tomorrow, "Tiger Woods: Kicks puppies, beats up on little old ladies and causes strife in the Middle East".

That last part made me laugh! The truth of the matter is that no matter how much good he does for the world, it won't matter those who take long sips of Haterade. They will continue to find reasons to hate from hearing him mutter obscinities to himself to not saying Hi during a round of golf. His life is on show and the average golf fan likes probably just him. I can remember when I picked up the game hearing from older golfers who remembered Arnie. He cursed like a sailor during rounds and got angry at himself. Why? Because he wanted to do what he knew he was capable of doing. I could barely believe that the King could do that, but he did. He's held in high regard the world over and as is Tiger. But there was no camera on him all the time and no internet to post when he says D*** within earshot. If that happens, what are you going to do? Be offended if you want, but you can't change anyone's behavior. If your kid is in the room, be a parent and handle it as I had to at times. I hear worse in my kid's elementary school.

So when all 100 Tiger hate threads come up monthly, I wonder who is posting these. People who's golfing history began in the 1960's or just last year when Phil gave them a fist bump. Regardless, it accomplishes nothing to continue to beat up on a guy who can't even go into a friggin' Starbucks without probably being hassled for being who he is. Can you live in his fishbowl world? Ever received a death threat because of the color of your skin for playing in and about to get a Green jacket? Not a life I would want or desire, but there he is. Flaws and all for all to see. None of us are perfect and neither is he. Nor is he evil incarnate as some people make him out to be just by breathing or hitting a drive into the Atlantic. As I've said before, you don't have to like him, just respect the golf.

Correct. I've never seen him throw a club and anyone who claims otherwise has never truly seen someone throw a club. I've seen clubs stuck in trees, washed up in a lake, and guys who can probably throw them farther than they can hit them, with pride. If the club is lying next to him after the shot, it hasn't been thrown unless he's sporting a tour issued boomerang shaft.
DEGOINS
Drop the Haterade and drink some Tigerade! The guy is human and demands perfection from himself. Thats what sets him apart from the rest of the field, the fact that he does get so upset when he is less than perfect. If you don't like him don't watch!

I am a big Tiger fan and cannot disagree with any of this post...................

I love it when people mention Palmer and Nicklaus as not having had temper's or thrown clubs. Those people have a selective memory... or just plain don't have a clue what they're talking about. TV coverage allows us the luxury of literally missing few if any of Tiger's shots, be them good or bad. And thus the reactions following them as well. Coverage in Arnie and Jack's prime was much different. You would only see a small fraction of their shots compared to what we see of Tiger. And thus, fewer if any, of the negatives.

And last I checked, Palmer and Nicklaus weren't legends when they were 33. You don't fully become legendary til you're older and people really have to dig into their memory banks to remember your first major win, or the time you shot blah blah blah to win the so and so Open. You become legendary then, because the vast majority of folks only remember the good. Not the bad. If you really think a guy who's won 14 majors at 33 years of age won't be a legend... well. You're kidding yourself friend.

Tom gave us some classy and nice golf which we havent been getting with Tiger

like Rick Reilly said "golf is a game of gentlemen, even when we play bad(shows clip of tiger woods throwing club and hitting golf bag)"

i think someone from the new generation has to come out and be like Tom

also do we need 50 million different forums about tiger?
frozen_rope
Nonsense. The fact is that no other current player is even close to Tiger's class as a player, not even close. His game is in a league by itself and each year his record proves it.

This would be the same class that saw him miss the cut and throw his clubs around like it was their fault, would it? He's in a league of his own on that one, I guess. Each year his tantrums prove it.

I just find it amazing people can read his mind and determine why he threw a club. Maybe a ladybug flew on his ball or some mystery karma made him swing poorly. Or just maybe he was upset at himself. It's also amazing that Tiger haters are relishing that he missed his second cut in a major as a pro and think of it as a victory. He blamed himself and no one else. Not the weather, not anything else. To say otherwise would be lying.
