i love the 10 shot rule for the Masters, its shows that over the weekend someone can make up 10 shots... not often, but its been done.

Especially for the British where making a big number quickly and often is a great possibility.

what do you think?

It isn't just "10 shots" it is "top 70(?) and ties and anyone within 10 shots of the lead". So for the 09 Open the leader is at -5 and the cut is at +4 which is still the same as if there were a 10 shot rule. It can help if the field is tightly bunched up, but 10 is still pretty hard to make up in two days.

Masters has a much smaller field so they can do it. The other majors would end up with too many players on the weekend. Maybe we should just say Tiger makes the cut no matter what. Or Top 69 and Tiger.

would this have been made if Tiger made the cut?

I think 70 people is enough. The 10 shot rule could send over 100 players+ depending on the situation. The players would complain about making less money because of more ties.

I'm for the 10 shot rule. No professional should face the humiliation of putting a score of 11 or higher on his card for any one hole. Just pick up the ball and mark down a 10.

I'll think you'll find the R&A run the Open not the PGA/Euro (By which i think you mean the European Tour).

I remember this debate came up when Norman was world number 1 and missed the cut by 1 shot.

Every major is different and that's what makes them all so good. So stick your 10 rule.
