Watched 'Golf In America" on the gag channel today for the first time. What a bunch of crap. I would have a better chance of being paired with aliens tomorrow than to walk onto the 1st tee and be paired with Greg and Chrissy or Herb Kohler. What a bunch of bs. Greg Norman designed my favorite course but ask me how many times I have seen him there. This show in no way depicts golf in America. Seems like another gag channel waste of time.
Golf in America is a bunch of guys and girls who share the same passion teeing it up and forgetting the world....don't know what that show has to do with that.

You've missed previous shows which included stories on the "Dawn Patrol" at Torrey Pines, the public course that is run by the state penitentiary at Angola, Louisiana, the two men responsible for bringing the U.S. open to Bethpage, and the golfing buddies that escaped death in the plane that landed in the Hudson. Sure, the Norman and Kohler stories weren't about guys you'd see at your local course, but they are both pertinent to the game of golf in this country.

I caught all three of those episodes, I like the Dawn Patrol and Bethpage the best so far...

And then the fairly sad story about the kid who killed his dad, who was a marshall, with an errant tee shot. I found it to be a very sad story. Maybe I just have a soft side I guess.

If you don't like the show, just don't watch it.

I would go after who ever it is that is forcing you to watch the "gag channel" as you call it. Must be tough living life chained to your TV and being forced to watch the "gag channel".

Just curious, why are you calling it the gag channel? And the best thing bout a tv, if you don't like something just change the channel:)

I dont really have a problem with the stories.

However Anthony Anderson as the host of a serious golf show...

I like Anthony Anderson has the host, but they gotta get a new shtick for him. Every segment starts out with him holding his hands together in the shape of a triangle while talking to a camera perched 5 feet above his head.

Anthony Anderson, while far far less attractive than Lauren Thompson, is a much more expensive talent. I'm sure they do multiple shootings of him (perhaps a season's worth) over a day or two. He's probably watched episodes and thought the same.

Most of his roles before Golf In America have been comedy roles, i guess im just adjusting to seeing him as a serious host...still snicker from time to time smile.gif

They ought to get that host who did the "10 Guttiest Performances" show that was on just before Golf in America a week or so ago. I think I'd watch her on just about anything.

The story of the guy who accidently killed his father was really sad. I remember when that happened and there wasn't much news on it around here, but I can understand why they wanted to keep it private at the time.

I do have one gripe. During the episode I mention above, they referred to the course as being "just minutes from downtown Dallas". I hate it when things from this region get tied to that cesspool to the east. Arlington is in Tarrant County and borders Fort Worth, definitely not in Dallas. Just a pet peeve of mine.

Lauren is the best thing they have ever done !!!!!! Will watch anything with her.
"Gag" refers to myself and the Saturday foursome who thinks that the golf commentary on this channel should be put under a "gag'' order. Especially Rich Lerner who is a total moron. Followed closely by Tilghman. Unfortunately I think she is here to stay, word has it here in Orlando, she has an in with Arny. Relative, family friends daughter, who knows.

Yeah, I noticed that tendency. They also need to get better writers for the transaction segments, or take that responsibility away from Anderson if it's his doing. On serious topics the writing is okay, but the things Anderson says before/after offbeat segments are brutally forced, not clever and not funny.

I like the show, even if some of it is pure rehash, or at least things I've read about. John Feinstein's segment on Bethpage Black and its crew was identical to his book on the '02 Open.

I wouldn't mind seeing Brandel host Golf In America... I really don't have anything against Anthony, but he really doesn't seem to add much to the program...

My guess is that he actually liked it...but he's just a grumpy dude.

Brandel's too much a color commentator and involved in causing debate and mixing it up. Adam Barr would be better. Never see him. He'd say what needed to be said, then get out of the way.

Features need to be more about every day. I know they covered Bethpage Black & Torrey, but that's still not every day. Give me some good stories about die hards at courses that won't even host state qualifiers, much less Opens.

If you've gone out as a single, you'll hear more stories than with a regular foursome. That's what makes this game special. I've played with a sports radio host, the first person ever on ESPN, and met some great people just playing as a single. That's Golf in America.

The show feels too stiff -- awkward even. Like I just walked into the clubhouse at Augusta National wearing a t-shirt and flip flops.

In response to this episode...that is really sad and a freak accident. I cannot imagine living with that feeling and reliving it every time I tee'd it up.

On another note...did anyone notice near the end of the segment, he was in the backyard with is little boy and he was feeding baseballs into and automated pitching machine while he hit them? He didn't even have a helmet on his 5 (?) year old kid with balls whizzing at him. You think he would be extra cautious about balls flying fast at people he loved after what he has been through. That just kind of bothered me.

In response to the topic...the jury is still out on this show with me. I am not sure I like AA as the host, I know he needs time to loosen up, so I will give him a pass. I think the show has potential though, they need some new programming on there.

I always find it a bit humorous when people complain about TV programming...Is anyone holding a gun to your head forcing you to watch?? If you don't like it, move on to a more worthwhile endeavor, right?
