I know that capt. and crew format rules are usually up to a committee, but I have a question. Lets say my team is hitting our second shots over water to the green. Our third person to hit double hits their ball( ala T C Chen) and the ball goes into the water. Since it was hit twice, do we all now have to proceed as ball in water hazard...hitting 5? This was just a question given to me, and I wasn't sure how to answer. A little help from my fellow Golfwrx friends would be useful. Thanks in advance.

No, because the second "stroke" is a penalty for hitting the ball while moving, not a stroke. If you triple hit your ball, it is only 2 strokes.

In a scramble???? Only if that is the best shot... No you do not have to take the shot.

I was thinking the second hit would be the same as walking up after hitting a putt to the edge of the hole, before the last guy putts, and tapping in.........you have to take the final stroke...but thanks for the input, i value what others think.....

I think oldgoalie has it right. There was only one stroke made on the double hit. The subsequent contact is not a stroke. It is just a penalty and penalties do not usually affect the order of play.

With regards to the tap in putt, that was a stroke, not a penalty, which is why you have to take it.

Seriously, there are rules in a scramble?

Of course! Every game has rules. That said, you won't find any scramble rules in the Rules of Golf.
